Electric window

The front electric window on drivers side has packed up today.

I can hear the motor running and can manually move the window if I try and put the window donw or back up (it doesn't work with the switch).

I am in the process of re sealing the ancillary panel as it leaks and when I slide my hand under the panel I can feel a metal wire hanging loose that I assume needs to be in the runner somehow. I can feel the same wire being flush to the runner on the other runner. Unfortunately I can't get the whole panel off as this would mean push the window all the way down and I am a bit scared that I won't be able to get it back up again!!!

Can I put the window all the way down and get back up again easy? Is this a common problem. I think maybe the wire has just popped off the runner somehow.

I would like to sort this before I re seal as would mean breaking the seal and having to re re seal again if I don;t do it today!!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ps I have a '99 Toledo S TDi

Hi,

Ive just recently had the window regulator go on my passenger window too. They are quite simple things to fix and im sure with a little bit of time youll be able to get the wire back in its runners.

If not you might need a new window regulator which is about £40 from SEAT.

This how to guide should help you out DIY Window Guide

hope this helps

Will it be the regulator tho?

I can feel a wire hanging loose inside the door. Can this not be put back where it needs to go?

Well have just finished re sealing the door, so will have to do without my window for a while.

My issue was getting the ancillary panel away fromthe door. Is a tough one as need to fully wind window down and not sure if would be able to fix and then be able to get the window back up.

If anyone has any experince with this please drop me a line.

Thx all!!

You dont need to wind the window all the way down to get the panel off. thats what the 2 little gromits are that go through the panel. Just wind it down a bit and the bolts line up with the hole.

If you do want to pull the window up from all the way down, stick some duck tape on it so you've got some handles to pull on when its all the way down.
