i dont really know about these 8v AGG engines....
Im sure there are lots of manifolds for them. I would ask on a golf website.
Remapping isnt worth it.

What sort of gains do you think you got? 10-15bhp?
Is there any noticable difference at all?
It was my brother that had it done on what is now my car. He thought there was little/no difference.
A remap is a great addition to engoine modifications, to compliment other wrok, ie flowed head, port and polish wild cam, TB's, manifolds etc. It should be the final part of the puzzle, to optimise the benefits of the other work.
A stand alone remap may yield better results. A stand alone engine management system, like megasquirt may be a better idea.

I've had my 8v remapped for over 9 years. Yes, I did feel the difference - improved throttle response and even more grunt lower down. Bhp increase was about 10 with similar increase to the torque. MPG improved if not ragging it. I've experienced no downsides at all. Original clutch lasted 13 years / 104,000 miles and was only replaced as a precaution due to track day abuse (rather than it actually going).
Mine was done by 'old' AmD when they were still run by Geoff Everett & Mike Devine out of the village garage in Islip, north of Oxford. Cost me £199 at the time. They were advertising it for £399 before Big Boys Toys took over this year.
I've never seen a manifold for the 8v Ibiza engine - I always thought there was a problem with RHD cars which meant that the bulk of the manifolds available won't fit as they are LHD only. However I may be confusing 8v and 16v lumps there.

Apologies for the post hijack, Rob, but I've noticed that your car spec shows a relocated battery. I've been pondering doing that to mine to even-out the weight a wee bit - it's very light at the back following the stripping out of the interior. Any tips on how you did this - did you buy a kit or did you just do it yourself? Was any welding involved?
If you look on ebay you can buy a generic remapped chip for the mk3 Golf 8v AGG. Costs about £30, requires soldering in on 96> cars however.
I had one on my Polo, its was not a resistor or power accelerator or all the other crap that gets sold. Just a chip with maps tweaked more towards performance.
I am however waiting until I get a different filter and exhaust as that is apparently the modifications on the car when it is mapped!

Who makes an exhaust system for mine?
I've been mostly into my french car of which i've had many and modified most.
The battery relocation is easy (well it's helps i'm an electrician and get cable free
).
You want a double insulated (gives protection incase it ever gets caught or ripped) 25mm (min) or 35mm single cable crimped off from the original cable to the battery in the engine bay and then i just went through the bulk head and placed the battery on the rear beam bump at the back of the car, secured by 2 rachet strap with anchors using the 8mm holes in the chassis.
The earth is a 50mm tri rated short length bolted to the chassis (remember to take the paint off first! The battery is a 063 which is £20 odd quid, light (10kgs) and starts the car - the best i've found for lightness and cheapness.
Simple really, you may say that a bsttery box is better etc. but my car is all about cheapness and 'bang for your buck', plus it isn't going anywhere even in a crash!

Surely on a '94 car, it'd be a 2E anyway? They switched the 2.0 8v from 2E to AGG around '96/'97 when the facelift happened...
my 95 was a 2E.. could never find a manifold for it, like mentioned and like my valver these days.. they are all listed LHD only. there probably is someone somewhere that makes them its just finding them.
Thanks for the info on the battery, Rob. Has it passed an MOT like that? Or is your car not road legal?
Ref. exhaust - Supersprint used to do a cat back with a straight through pipe replacing the centre silencer (I have the system on mine). Not sure if they still make it, though.

Cheers Rob. Seems like my car is almost the twin of yours in the stripped out interior dept - even the same colour (although mine has the added feature of lots and lots of rust).
I know that MOT's can be a bit hit and miss. Mine had passed an MOT in it's stripped out status twice no problem until this year when a different garage failed it because it had the passenger side seat belt still in situ, but no mounting point for the buckle - because that is on the seat, and the seat wasn't in the car.
Tester would only pass the car if he removed the seat belt, or I re-installed the seat and the seat belt mounting point. Pedantic, or what!

if you want a good cheap chip, which does actually work, look up blitzchip on www.clubgti.com
I ran one on my 16v and it definitely helped and alot of other people run it on their golfs, 8v/16v on the site as well and all have noticed improvements
