Vag Com Newbie

Morning all.

Just got my cheapo ebay lead and free s/w from Ross Tech. Plugged in and all is fine, picked up my EGR fault, which I knew was there.

What can I change now? I see there are many options for braking / stearing etc, which I didnt want to look at incase I messed anything up.

Can I change alarm bleeps / door locking / power steering / etc?

you can set the alarm to beep when you lock/unlock, change idle speed etc but not the steering etc its all fixed rate.

What about auto folding mirrors when locking?

my o4 petrol cupra doesnt fold at all automatically, all manual.

I don't think LCs have electric folding mirrors. Mine doesn't either. Just the LCRs I think.

You can change the alarm tone for when it goes off,
"Blip Blip" when you lock it,
Change the locking so 1 press of the fob will unlock all if you want
Turn off the 10mph door locks if you want,

I have recently done some logging and produced power curves for my car and a mates from a spreadsheet on the Ross-Tech Site.... That was good fun!!

Mine has folding mirrors, its a 54 plate. How do you change your suggestions?

This guide is helpful, Pabs did it ages ago....My version of VAG-COM popped up with bubbles with explanations for each channel which was useful. I am running Version 704 with full license.

It depends on how much you want to pay mate. I got HEX-USB+CAN if you have a USB port to use on the laptop. That will do everything but is £180 once converted from $. I needed it to work on all VAG models

The cheaper version is about $65 for KEY+USB that will just do the Leon I think and isn't so future proof. You can use an earlier version of the software with that cable. 409 I think.
