H&R Cup Suspension Kit - Opinions Please

I'd like people's opinions on the H&R Cup suspension kit, I've seen one for sale at a fairly reasonable price, and would like to know firstly does anyone have this kit fiited to a Mk1 Leon 20VT and if you do whats the ride like.

From the specs i've found it lowers the car 55mm front & 40mm rear, having measured the ride on the car standard it measures from the bottom of the wheel arch lip to ground is 670mm front & 660mm rear.

So this Cup kit will drop it fairly low, and i'm a little concerned it could be too low, for every day use, while the ride height will look a lot better than it does at the moment, i don't want to sacrifice ride comfort too much,

Your opinions please guy's... :D

Maz (jonjay) has got the Cup kit on his FR.

I'm looking at getting the same on mine.

Badger Bill rates H & R stuff aswell I think so may be worth having a word with him.

How much have you found it for out of interest?

Olaf I've seen the Cup kit at a price of a whisker under £300, is this good value, the H&R web site £402.00,

Yea i was puzzled with that but they deffo give a 35mm drop. At £300 you got yourself a bargin tbh as they are very comparable to the koni/eibach route.

they are good kits, but they can be too hard, having one fitted to my ibiza a few years ago, and on these roads, it is very inforgiving

They go lower than 35mm as well so i have been told , h&r sells some good stuff , i chucked the anti roll bars on my s3 front and rear , and it transformed the car

Found out why they say 45-55mm drop. It is because they are basing this drop on the standard Leon not the Cupra's, FRs and LCRs.

Cheers for the info slick,

I still haven't done anything with the suspesion, still in several minds what to do don't want to make an expensive mistake (been there, done that with jamex) i've been looking at a koni str.t kit (non adjustable) which for less than £250 is pretty hard to beat espeically with the koni rep, and my budget being what it is, at the mo'...

I'm probably going to still be wondering this time next year at this rate, but at least by then maybe i can afford some proper (coilover) suspension. ;)

Depends what you want though Loon. Like i said previously with the H&R kit your getting as good if not better quality than the koni FSD and Eibach setup. IN FACT speaking to Shaun few weeks back (owner of BigBoyToyz) he took of his Koni stuff as it starting "floating" at the front and put on the H&R kit. For the £300 quid you can get it for its well worth it seeing as most places sell for £400 +

It all depends on how you transpose to use the car.. if you drive it calmy and like a bit of a toe down here and there, get a kit like the Koni or H&R cup kit...
You drive like your a$$ is on fire 24/7 mostly get coilovers, even if you drive normally with coilovers, it still feels as your ragging around, well thats IMHO...

But one thing i will say is, as you say, make a mistake by buy a kit coz thats all you can afford, Jamex, Emax, FK and all those sub £250 kits are worthless in my eyes, as they will just fail and the members have posted such, as you find if you search on the names, personally i have had Eibachs and H&R and Bilsten kits on all my cars and wouldnt dare do any others but them, as u get what you pay for in them.. kits that will most likely out last the car!

What have you got on there at the moment Rik? Slicks car is very low for a derv so I don't think there will be an issue for your 1.8t.
