Spark Plugs - Best suited to Remapped LC - Question

Yes, I know it comes up almost as regularly as the "wooshy dump valve" posts....

They do NOT list the IK22 plug for the 1.8 20VT Leon???? Is that a recent change, or do people choose to ignore that and get IK22's anyway?


I'm unsure of if I should go for the NKG PF... jobbies, or the Denso IK22's.
Apparently the IK22's are cooler, and so more suited to remapped/powerful cars, but they last much less, and cost much more.

Any comments/opinions? I think, unless the IK22's offer a MUCH better quality/performance, I'll stick with the NKG's.

I DEFINATELY need new plugs..... but everyone raves about the IK22's.
Thing is, if Denso don't list them for my car, I'm a bit worried that they've withdrawn them for some reason?

I might just have to stick with NKG's - and they are fairly cheap.

Recommned NGK or at least the bosch. I personnaly wouldnt use denso!

NGK all the way, it's just not worth the risk using anyother make. VAG use them for a reason, and they work well and last 40k on a mapped car.

it would appears the PFR7Q are the standard ones...

heres a quote from another thread:

NGK PFR6Q Platinum plugs are standard fitment, £5.95 each plus VAT. Some people fit Iridium plugs which are supposedly higher performance and surprisingly a bit cheaper too at £5.50 each plus VAT. NGK part number for Iridium is BKR6EIX. You could also get Denso Iridium plugs but they're very expensive and in my opinion not worth the extra cash.

These plugs all the way!!!! NGK PFR6Q plugs. I've got them in my mapped LCR and theyre fantastic!!!!!

PFR6Q are the plugs i've always used, and probably gonna stick with then.

Theres nothing wrong with Denso, they are a very big company in Japan since the 50's supplying parts for many race series' over there. Loads of big power Jap cars use Denso plugs over here.

BKR6EIX are the ngk iridiums as mentioned above, mine cost 24 quid local shop and work spot on.
