Hi guys i currently own 2 cars an astra tdi and an m-roadster, i hardly use the bmw due to the amount of miles i drive which i do in the astra, so i'm thinking getting rid of both and getting a Ibiza Cupra TDI, chipping it and changing the clutch and using it as an every day car/plaything.

I've been trailing through tons of threads on here for the last couple of weeks regarding performance, the question is would i be bored of the Seat in a few weeks? it seems a chipped one it about as quick as a CTR, by the ///M standards is slow!

The trouble is the ///M is boringly fast, majority of stuff on the roads cant keep up, i think i could have more fun in the Ibiza

Real world performance, Im unsure you'd miss either cars. I do think you would miss the sound of the Roadster though!!!

Im sure if you find anyone close to you with one, they'll give you a little ride.

If you look at the headline 0-60 times, then yes a remapped PD160 would be similar to a CTR.

But as any TDI driver knows, there's a BIG difference in mid-range pull, the huge torque of the TDI means it will be off like a train in most typical driving/gear situations, whereas a revvy non-turbo petrol like the CTR would need dropping down through the gears and revving it's nuts off to make any progress.
If you haven't driven a powerful TDI you might not realise the full extent of this difference.
If you're having the clutch done, you can take full advantage of the torque available from the remap, right at the revs where you can use it to awesome effect without any fear of clutch slip.

Cheers for that, the ///M engine needs to be driven hard, power comes in about 4k

yeah all adds up, currently paying £1200 for 2 cars on insurance plus nearly £400 on road tax!
