arghhhhh swirls on a month old car!

Just noticed some very slight swirl marks on the bonnet and dont know where i am going wrong...at first i thought it was a bit of spider web! i am using a megs water magnet and have orded a sonus drying towel, do you think its the water magnet, i use the 2 bucket with 2 mitts, and lightly use the drying towel... or do i go to the extreme or dabbing? i use foam aplicators with my polish and microfibre cloths to buff is there anything i can do there without going over the top?

Brand new cars that have never been touched before can have swirl marks. Usually, IMO, down to the quick and lazy way manufacturers and dealers wash and prepare the car before delivery.

My paintwork was covered with swirl makrs when i collected it in December - shocking if you ask me!

I also had swirls when I picked mine up brand new.

I guess the other thing is that is when we polish and seal outdoors, I guess there is a certain amount of dust getting into the process too. I have obsessive compulsive disorder if it is too windy! I so wish my garage was wide enough that I could work inside.

just collected my brand new Altea tonight. Its not even had a dealer wash, and is manky. On my request of course, It will be getting a de-swirl etc this weekend!

Don't see why your washing regime should cause swirls. But to get rid of them you'll need a Porter Cable or equivalent.

I'd do a CD test on the water magnet, I had a couple of these rubbed them lightly on a new CD and found they were scratching, they got sent to the wheel arch bin right away, and replaced with Sonus ones which passed the CD test and still do many months down the line.

Yeah new cars come like that some times. Whe i got my car it has superguard put on (free of charge) and it had tones of swirls under it

There is always the option to book someone and have a days tuition as well, learn about the Porter Cable, Rotary, and all other associated tasks

yep seen this too many times in the past, if you buy a new car make it clear you dont want them to wash it before you pick it up.

I'd certainly be keen on a 'detailing school day' as well. Even though i have the PC and various pads, polishes etc theres nothing like watching a pro at work
