If you can make a fibreglass one, you can make a carbon fibre one - the principle is the same, it's just a different type of matting and a different epoxy. Assuming we're talking wet lay, anyway. It's a rather different story if you're talking about forming prepreg sheets of carbon fibre. There's an awful lot of bullshit talked about this kind of thing - there's a rather good book called Competition Car Composites published by Haynes that is a good introduction to the subject - I reckon knocking up a bonnet might be just a touch ambitious for a first project tho!what about fibreglass bonnets, a guy made them for the mk3 polo, i know it's a completely different car but surely a fibrelass one cant be that hard to make
well the main reason is because my bonnet is ridiculously stone chipped.I gotta quote and cos of the colour (iris purple) they'll need to blend back into other panels,which comes out at £800...which in my eyes is far too much to spend on it.
For £800, I'd be bloody upset if I had to provide my own lube......Did they also ask you to bring some lube with you??...
