Found an article in Autocar that mentioned a state of the art piece of kit that a Swedish firm were using to track real world figures against manufacturers. I have pasted the new FR TFSI, but others are available. Audi score bad, but they say its down to the 4 wheel drive sytems

hang about guys, some of this doesn't add up.
Manufactures figs are total power output (ie pre transmission losses)
Tested figures are at the wheels (including transmission losses).
Therefore the new leon TFSI losses approx 1 bhp on transmission. or is it a case that its outputting well over 200bhp at the fly wheel.
An engine bench test would be more conclusive as a yardstick to compare apples for apples.

I wouldn't have expected to see more than 170ps at the wheels

It does mention how it is tested at the start. For some cars to be 50 bhp down though is surely more than it should be no matter how its done

the mazda6 mps in 4 wheel drive but produced more power than mazda stats!!

What about the 170tdi? Can't even find the golf engine there..
