Not strictly a Leon question this but...when I got my LCR APR'd last week Paul at Engine Advantages asked if I was using standard or super unleaded.

I use super anyway so didn't think anything of it - what would happen if i put *shock* standard unleaded in? Would the wheels fall off and the roof cave in?

Just wondering...

You had me really worried there as I *think* the missus put a tenner's worth of standard much in there t'other day...

No, really, I was going on to ebay for a flame retardant suit.

If its been mapped specifically for Super, thats what it will perform best on. Uing regular won't do any harm but the performance will drop as the knock sensors pick it up and retard the ignition to keep it all sensible. A tenners worth is not really going to make any difference at all. So put the fire proof pants back on ebay and relax.

To tell the truth, it is not going to do any damage to your car.
I was using the standard stuff for a while and it seemed fine to me.

However, the car is a lot more responsive to the 'Super' stuff and I am sure on the long run, it is going to be better for the components on the car.

Not really noticed a great difference in consumption and I get between 280-340 miles to a full tank on both.

Just depends on how much you like your pride and joy.
I think I'll stick to the 'Good' stuff as it only costs £2.50-£3.50 more for a full tank.

Hope this helps  :funk:

That'll be your leaden right boot mate! I get about 300 mile per tank on average, tho i probably don't have as many mods as a lot of poeple.

My car used to be run on 'normal' fuel, but since reading up on it a bit more it's been Ultimate or V-Power all the way... (With a bit of Tesco99 thrown in too) I've been getting better performance and more miles since then :)

Lard..so you got it APR'd at engine advantages :) Paul is a nice guy. Did you juts have the ST1 map put on, and did you get the V Tune enabled version?

As for the fuel thing, car will just seem slow and sluggish, i wouldnt advise running it about on normal unledded, but as said before 10 quid wont hurt it. But you will just notice it does not feel happy on it.

AFAIK it's just the standard map - I haven't tried plugging V Tune into it yet although I've got the software.

Yeah Paul was really good - did a great job from what I can tell and I'll definitely be going back if I need to for anything else - even just to use the dyno (I tried to get a go after it was mapped but the place was chocka!)

 Not quite, i don't drive lightly but everyone seems to be getting alot better fuel consumption than me. I don't do any motorway miles so maybe that's why

I drive a total of 40 miles a day to/from work, A + B roads, mixture of 60/40/30 limits. I drive fairly hard in the 60 stretches as the roads are great and usually (fairly) empty. Average around 32MPG.

Sure you don't have a fuel leak? ;)

dont worry richy i dont get the sort of fuel economy these guys seem to be getting. i do get more than 300 to a tank but i would say my average mpg is about 24-25 on non motorway drive to work and back.
