Hi,

Recently fitted Some Vmaxx coilovers and I am well impressed with the look.
However..

What has everybody done about adjusting the camber?

The handling is not what it should be at the minute as the car is now quite low and obviously I dont want it to eat tyres. Various places have told me they cant adjust the camber... One place said they can do it but its just trial and error adjusting the bolts and will cost me a fair bit in labour.

So how has everyone else sorted this out? Many thanks!!

I tried all the tyre fitters round my way, none of them had a clue to be honest, one of them said they will have a crack at it but didn't exactly fill me with confidence. Luckily for me JBS are just round the corner so they sorted it for me. :)

Our local Protyre did mine, they have laser tracking which is capable of toe and camber. About £30 i think.

Any 4way lazer aligner will be able to do it, being that low might need to remove the front bumper but thats no big problem, there should be enough adjustment with the two bolts that hold the strut to the hub to adjust it enough to get it within specifications.

I'm pretty sue all ProTyres outlets are kitted out with the same stuff so your nearest one will have toe and camber settings for the Ibiza stored on their database on the machine. My cars uber low and goes on their ramps fine so you should be ok. Check on their website for your nearest branch......

Cheers, unfortunately there is no protyre outlets anywhere near me. The place I went to said i would be looking at least £90!! Jokers!

When I drive it I hear what sounds like my brakes are slightly on but they are not. Like amplified road noise which I assume is due to my tyres not running true as the will be on the edges due to the camber? Sound about right?

Ill try and find somewhere similar to protyre in my area (North East if anyone has any suggestions)

Im in York mate. Its doing my head in as the tracking seems to be way out now! My steering wheel is straight but the car goes to the right!

just nip round the garages and find out who does laser alignment mate. tons of places do it. dont go to the backstreet garages to try and get a 'cheap' price. the equipment is expensive so your mainstream garages will have the better stuff anyway :)

most bodyshops can adjust camber, try local MOT shops or a local motorsport place

Ok thanks for the replies. I assume its the tracking the causes the car to pull to the right and the reason why my steering wheel is no longer straight?

And camber is the reason that my tyres wear uneven?

You need to get the toe aligned (left and right) and the camber (if looking at the wheels from the in front of the car / / ------ \ \ ) adjusted after fitting suspension.

So the uneven tyre can be from both, when I had my suspension fitted I had wheels pointing in different directions so one was in a way being dragged so wearing it more

Well im struggling to find somewhere to do the camber, only place so far say at least £70 plus VAT as it takes time and its just trial and test so could be more!
