I meant to ask before, were the rods a balanced set?

to that extent not often. If a audi needed stripping to that extent it would be more econimcal to replace the engine.

But i have had pistons out before to check rings etc.

Iam still learning, you never stop learning, and iam enjoying myself, love my job. Sad?

The most enjoyable job ive done to date was a gearbox replacement on a RS6 which requires engine removal, very satisfying.

I can imagine it to be very satisfying! would love to be able to take my engine to bits and be able to fit new parts myself, but i'd end up losing stuff, not knowing where things went and finding extra bits that werent there before
Lucky I go to a good garage then isnt it!
Good job tho mate

A car is the second most expensive thing you will ever own, so it saves me a fortune doing it myself, iam sure various tuning companys would charge 10 - 15K to do this conversion whereas this will be less than 5K in total for me. Although not everything is being done by me, i have a very nice guy fabbing me a DP and custom 3" TIP. ( iam no welder ) would like to be though.

I love it.

Yeah, I love cars in general but more about driving them as havent really had much practical experience to do with the mechanical side, it seems no matter how much I get totally sucked in to reading about cars all day I dont seem to pick it up like some do.
Helped fit my K03s with olly and that was cool but apart from that vagtech do all the work on my car.

Some good photos again Matt.

When are you looking to get it finsihed fully then? Are you giving the engie bay a god clean too while you've got most of it out on the workbench?

Not sure when it will be ready, was hoping to get the head built up this week and manifold and turbo bolted on ready for DP but thats not gonna happen cause iam missing an exhaust valve.

Gonna order peloquin diff and get that in along with flywheel and clutch.
