when i'm slowing down and about to stop my a.b.s has been cutting in for some reason? only does it at low speeds, and only happens somtimes? but its happening more than it should for no reason, even in the dry?!? also the light sometimes stays on for 5 mins or so for no reason?

i think it might be becasue my brake pads are low? and need replacing but would this make the abs cut in? cheers for any help...

Like Dolly said, it's going to be the sensor that is playing up. Will need replacing, had same on a family members Toldeo 16v Sport, is certainly a weird feeling.

My old 16v had the sensor replaced and it still happened, the control unit as eventually replaced, best try cleaning the sensors first.

Same problems with mine at the moment. Linked it to Vagcom and it came up with intermitent sensor fault and also intermitent abs pump fault. Hopefully the pump fault is only coming up becuase the sensor is faulting, otherwise it may be expensive:( Bought a new sensor from GSF for £21 but still to be fitted (was my front nearside sensor that has gone)

you can use vagcom to test your abs system, have you tried that yet? It runs through the pump brakes and release cycles to test for leaks etc.

I replaced my driver side one a while back. Cost me about £6 from GSF. (Student so went for the cheaper one) It worked for a while but the ABS light has come back on and refuses to go off!! DO you reckon its due to the cheap sensor?

I didnt get the option to go for the cheaper one as the £21 sensor was the only one they had. Maybe you could take it out again give it really good clean round about it and re-fit to see if makes a difference. As i said in my first post my abs pump came up with an intermittent failure on Vagcom so you could possibly have a problem with that or elsewhere.

I havent tested that abs system using Vagcom (it was a friend on another forum who ran it for me) so i couldnt say what that comes up with when its done.

Hopefully get my new sensor fitted tonight or tomorrow
:)

In my own little world.....

Mine has been doing that too - when crawling in traffic - scared the living **** out of me when it first happened so I called the AA and he said the same thing - have not got it looked at as it has not happened recently and often enough for me to get concerned at the moment.
