(Have used the "search" but fearing the worst...)
Hoping for some help with identifying a K03 / K03s turbo that I bought at GTi International at the weekend.
I was told that it was removed from a 52 plate Leon Cupra 180hp (6 speed box). I couldn't remove the TIP as it was bolted into place and had no tools.
I checked that it had a single vacuum hose off the actuator (it has).
The part numbers listed on the yellow i.d. tag is:
06A-145 704 A.
K03-026 CB 5015294.

Thanks in advance for any help.

what are you actually asking? are you asking whether its a k03 or k03s?

i believe the cupra has a k03 turbo not a k03s but i may very well be wrong.

The Cupra has the K03s, with the exception of very, very early Cupras and Sports, that had the K03.

it came with both

if there is only one vac hose off the actuator then its probably a k03sport, however i thought a k03-026 was a regular k03

Just checked, it has 2x6 blades......... I'm guessing this is a non sport.....
Do any K03's models have the 12 blade design?
If what the breaker said was true, i.e it was from a 180hp model, shouldn't it be a K03s?

just for your info

The early Leons 2000 year had the K03

from 2001 onwards they were then fitted with the K03s

so if the guy said that it came from a 52 plate, then it should be the K03s

If it hasn't then the guy has ripped you off and told you porkies, as all 52 plate LC's have the K03s fitted

most likely he has pulled it off a 2000 plate and called it a K03s so it would sell easily

I have a 2001 plate LC (AUQ engine) and all AUQ engines have the K03s fitted to them as standard

if you have the guys contact details, I would phone him up and ask what is going on?!!

I for one would not be happy

out of curiousity, how much did you pay for the unit, as the K03 turbo hardly sell anymore, as alot of people want the K03s or bigger turbo

point being if you cant trace the guy, you may find it hard to sell the K03, and if you do, I am probably guessing you wont sell it anyway near to what you paid for it

Thanks for the information, it's appreciated!
I contacted the company today, the guy seemed fine about it. He said it was from a 180hp APP code Leon Cupra on a 52 plate (just as he told me at Inters)......
I had contacted Seat to ask but they weren't too much help other to confirm the engine code was correct.
He said to call him tomorrow and he'll try to get one for me if he doesn't have one sitting, so fingers crossed.
I paid £170 for the turbo with the lines, Tip and inlet pipe / sensors, cracked airbox and MAF, cat with the lamda's (knackered flexie), fly-by-wire throttle pedal, ECU and a few other bits like the engine cover etc. If it goes t1ts up, I have a fair chance in getting most / all of the £170 back with selling everything off....

Thanks again guy's!

APP....aren't those the old engine codes

I only know as I questioned this alot when i bought my cupra and wanted to make double sure I was getting the K03s version

Never known ANY LC's from 2001 onwards to have the K03 fitted...

something just does not add up, but hey at least you are getting it all sorted

Why is everyone so worried about the KO3? From what i have heard the BHP from the APP and AUQ are both 180, I think if you are going for a remap then the KO3s is better coz you can get more out of it, but if not surely it dont matter? Yes or No?

i have check the part number with the ETOS software...

this turbocharger was use into a VW or a Audi model..
When i'm searching the part number for Seat and Skoda , nothing....

So i think it can be a K03 turbocharger...
I beleive it can be from an Golf Gti , or an Old model A3 1.8T 150hp...

the sure thing is that is not from a Seat Leon cupra....NO WAY....

i will try to find the model .... and post a print screen image here of the ETOS...

GOLF GTTi can you post a picture of the turbo? I'm afraid it can be a K03 from a Passat 1.8T or A4 1.8T... (the K03 turbos of the transverse engines are different from the longidunal engines i think....)

even on a standard map, the K03s is superior as it can hold the power alot better

sure there are bigger advantages to be had when remapping, but its better in every way, so yeah it does matter:)

Sorry, 52 and APP don't add up.

Plenty of 02 and earlier that are AUQ. He's lying to you.

yeah APP was on the old 2000 models

sounds like the guy has ripped you off.

NO k03 turbo was fitted to ANY LC's after 2000, all were changed to the K03s

if he comes back with a K03s, then fair play, but if he does not, then I would name and shame

This is from a previous thread, looks like its a 180bhp K03

Dear Sir,
thank you for your interest in our products.
First of all, we don't produce any turbo that we call K03S. But I hope I can
answer your questions with the following explanations.

All the following turbos have the same installation dimensions and
thermodynamical performance. The differences are only in the actuator that
opens the turbine bypass valve:
K03-011 (5303 988 0011) 150 hp, 65 N actuator
K03-026 180 hp, 85 N actuator
K03-035 180 hp, 85 N actuator
K03-044 150 hp, 65 N actuator
K03-045 156 hp (Ibiza Cupra), 85 N actuator with 2 ports
K03-049 150 hp (Sharan/Alhambra), 65 N actuator
The 180 hp versions have an actuator with a higher opening force due to the
higher exhaust gas pressure (which is a consequence of the higher boost
pressure). Otherwise the valve would be pushed open by the exhaust gas
pressure.

The following turbos are a further development (since 2000) and have an
improved and slightly larger compressor while using the same turbine (still
with the same installation dimensions):
K03-052 180 hp, 85 N actuator
K03-053 150 hp, 85 N actuator
K03-058 150 hp/180 hp, 85 N actuator

Consequentially, putting a 180 hp turbo on a 150 hp engine will not bring
about any change in performance, but putting on a K03-052/053/058 instead of
the older versions will bring a slight improvement in engine efficiency.
Additionally, with re-mapping the ECU you can achieve about 215 hp without
danger of overspeeding the turbo. With the older turbos, 195 hp is the
limit.

With the K04 that's also commonly used (5304 950 0001) the power output
should not be more than 220 hp. That means, changing a K03-052/053/058
against a K04 does not make a lot of sense.

I hope that these details answer your questions. If you need more info, one
of our service distributors will be glad to help you. Their addresses are on

if they dont know what a K03s is, then they are clueless

to back this up, they state the K04 to only map to 220bhp, which again is not true, the K04 on the LCR's maps to 260bhp approximately....and they go on to say that upgrading the K04 over the K03 is not worth it - muppets!!

These are the manufacturers. K03S is not their own reference. They are talking about designed useage of the turbos.
