It depends what kind of driving you do, if you do lots of short journeys or whatever.

When i was using my 1.0 Arosa i was getting between 40-45 MPG. Nearrer 50 on a good run. It usually does about £10 to 100 miles, which is about 42MPG.

But now my mum uses it around the town, doing 4 - 3 mile drives a day it does about 38-40.

So yes yours is slightly low.

A few reasons why might be:

-Does it get serviced often?
-Are the tyres inflated correctly?
-Do you use cheap fuel or good stuff like shell?
-Do you ever use fuel additives to clean the fuel system?
-Has the airfilter been changed?
-Has the fuel filter been changed?
-Has it had new sparg plugs?
-Does it perform as it should?

Other than that it can really only be down to either the type of driving you do, like all town work, stuck in traffic, or how you drive it.

With mine if your doing about 70+ it really does drink the fuel.

But it should do way more than 30MPG, ive never hafd it that low, not even close

My TDi does about 56-60 MPG average and 75MPG on a run. Thats what you need :D

I use forte fuel treatment. Its very good. But you cannot buy it from retailers. Its only supplied to garages, but i get it since my dad is a forte rep.

Im not sure what elese you could use, i only use that as i know it works.

The fuel filter is behind the offside rear wheel. Ive not changed one so i carnt help you there. There are clips to clip the filter on and off but im not sure how you would stop the fuel from getting out unless the clip stops it, im not sure.

Do you drive it quickly? i know its a 1.0 but u know what i mean.

I see you from sunderland, local (ish)

I have an old Arosa 1.0 too - I can usually get around 250-280 miles per tank, so about 40mpg.

I once got it down to 27mpg by having a fully laden car and overtaking people

Wife gets around 45 mpg on the daily 30 mile commute......I would probably get more like 40 mpg on the same run .... :)

But unless you drive like a maniac or permanently in Traffic jams 30 mpg sounds poor for a 1 litre Arouser.

Assuming engine is in reasonable shape and tyres are fully inflated (and that you dont drive with handbrake on) its worth checking that there is nothing 'dragging' - eg a brake binding or an overtightened rear bearing...jack her up each wheel in turn and check that everything rotates nice and freely.

1.4 Auto Arosa - only 4 speed gearbox. Im not too sure about the precise MPG (Im rubbish at maths) about 38 litres to fill the tank and can do around 410 miles out of that 'normal' driving and motorways around 360.
