Whats the best way to make sure that both the front coilovers and both the rear coilovers are set to the same height. When i put them on the car i made sure that both sides had the same amount of threads showing and were set to the same height. Today i measured from the centre of the wheel to the top of the arch and they are all different:(

Can anyone else who has got coilovers how they go about making sure that each side of the car is set to the same height?

cheers

The cars are not always the same from side to side so you might have to run a few threads more on one side than the other.
I would measure from the floor to wheel arch (with wheel on and car on floor) then find the difference between the sides and then adjust one side with a rule.
Don't forget to bounce the car before checking each time.

after you first put them on, over the next week or so, they settle a bit lower, and each coilovers ettles at a different rate to the other. So dont be put off, cos it doesnt mean the way you measured it was wrong. Alternatively, you could do wat i did, and measure the distance between the tyre and the arch.

thanks for all the help and ideas! i have tried counting the threads and it seems to still be higher on one side than then other. so i think im going to have a go at measuring between the ground and the top of the arch!

After adjusting, let the car back down and drive around the block to let everything settle. Then measure from the ground to the apex of the wheel arch through the centreline of the wheel with a tape measure. Check the opposite side and note the difference. Adjust accordingly and repeat. Important to give the car a quick drive around a few corners (not hard or fast) to settle things a bit. When your happy, leave it a week or so and recheck and adjust if need be.

you can have coilovers set up on a machine, think demon tweeks have one.

Surely pointless to waste time/effort/money when you can get it to within 2mm with a tape and a bit of patience. Obviously toe & camber need gauging properly though.

Not pointless really if you want better handling out of the car, and if he is struggling to get it even then maybe he needs abit of help?? i dont think it costs that much ether.
