Brake light switch or clutch pedal sensor normally. If you change them make sure they are set up properly or it will just come back on again.

Or if you were left foot braking that will bring it on aswell so dont!

mine is on as i changed the clutch pedal clip and must have knocked the sensor every now and again i mage to kick the clutch pedal and it goes off for a while. if that sensor is on does it stop the turbo from boosting properly? only someone told me it does, mine seems fine though.

just plugged me car in today and it came up the clutch pedal sensor as you lot said. cleared the code then checked the sensor only to find that it had come out of the clip on the pedal bracket, clipped bk in and ok now with no cost to me!

My 1.4 Mk3 has a similar problem, the EPC light keeps coming on and it then limits it to 3000 revs, or sometimes cuts out. Im plannin on getting it diagnosed, but can anyone tell me if this is the same problem? (Clutch sensor)

if its a clutch pedal sensor you shouldnt hip limp mode mate, might be something more ominous like MAF etc.....

Sorry, whats a MAF? Not really sure on technical terms, lol. Was thinkin of getting SEAT to diagnose it? Do you think this is a good idea? Thanks

Hi, Mine has just done this also. I was sitting at some lights and when went to pull away car cut out, took few attempts to get it going and then limits to 3000 revs. When I turn it off and on again it resets and all is ok but every so often it will bring the light on and limit it to 3000 revs again. Does this sound like just a sensor or something more serious? I cannot get to the garage until Thursday:help:

Mine does this limit to 3000rpm too .. bloody annoying.

I've posted several times bout it but still no joy. There is a posting where a guy reckoned that cleaning the G28 engine speed sensor (one that reads flywheel) sorted it out.

Other suggest MAF .... possibly (but unlikely) the engine coolant sensor?

Let us know ... the EPC light doesn't come on and on mine it usually happens about once a week and usually after 8-9 miles when the engine has just warmed up.

Just turn the key to off and then back to position before the starter is engaged and the car runs absolutely fine!

Mine has been like this for 2 years now.

this is exactly what is happening to me and what i am doing to clear the problem. I Think it may just be the sensor , will get it checked but not so worried now. :D

Also ....

... I called a Seat dealer and they said they'd recently had one in and it turned out to be the MAF [ and throttle body] ....

... I asked how much the guy paid for the repiar ...

"I shouldn't tell you this but ... £850!!!!!!!!!!"
