Personally I would look into the Vibe range of speakers and subs I have used them for numerous builds and found the sound and quality awesome. The slick range as mentioned earlier is good - I bought mine of e-bay from one of the shops. Again it will be expensive but I see it as an investment.

Right anyway after looking into this Im going to start buying some piece. Im after some Vibe Slick 60 6.5 inch Co-axial Speakers, a decent sub (need help choosing this) and some front speakers that will work with the amp. I am assuming using an amp is nessasry and the best thing 2 do. As said Im new to this

as Mr Max said i would go with MTX you will seriously impressed i think for the money. It is what I have although depending on what type of music you listen too aswell I listen to all sorts of music and I can say that for slow bassy type rap music it is unbelievable but then when I change to dance music I find it still sounds good but not as good as rap. If that makes sense.

my components run off a 4x70watt headunit and I find this more than loud enough.Loud enough to be uncomfortable infact. As for the sub that depends how loud you want it. I went with a 10 inch and its more than adequate inside the car but if you want everyone else outside the car to feel the bass I think a 12 inch would be required.

aye ya right poverty am going for a 10" not arsed about others hearing it, plus am going 2 build it into the boot hopefully (as I like my boot space) so rather limited on size

No offence mate, but the RMS wattage on that stereo is still likely to be about 20w RMS, as opposed to an amp which would comfortably knock out 2-4 times that and still be in the 'budget' range.

If you want SQL, you've got to go down the amp route - and a 3/4channel jobbie would run a sub and fronts for not a HUGE amount more than a 1/2 channel.

Of course, if budget is a factor and you don't want BIG sound then you don't NEED an amp - it comes down to exactly what you want, and how much you're willing to spend.

That's my tuppence worth on a Friday morning. Really should do some work.
