I all. I have just got my Ibiza 1.4tdi 2004. When i got it the air con wasn't workin at all but i fixed that with a re-gas but it only blows the air out very weak. I have to have it on number 4 to fell it doing anything and even then it isn't very strong. Is this normal for these cars or what could be wrong?

Sounds like the pollen filter. Does the air get stronger when you put on recirculation, if so, its definately the pollen filter.

normally leaves get in near the pollen filter and can block the path of the air so as already stated above check that and to check this is the problem doing as D & C said putting the car into reverse bypasses the filter :)

 welcome by the way

That wouldnt make a difference on the MK4 Ibiza.

Drop it out, bet a load of leaves fall out, best change the filter.

Doesnt bypass the filter on the MK4 Ibiza, the pollen filter is after the intake so both re circulated and fresh air is filtered.

the pollen filter is a very fine particle filter and can become blocked by normal filtering means, not just leaves and debris

my brothers PD130 had a manky pollen filter and it made the blower very weak

you are the key my friend  you work for sidlow or vw? you own a seat?

I work at a VW dealer in Milton Keynes, but have worked on Audi, SEAT and Skoda in the dealer network, have also worked in the tuning indusrty (AmD).

Did own a SEAT, along with 3x Skodas and 2x VW's over they years.

And back on topic there are two different filters (both fit). A white pollen filter and a pollen and odour filter which is a geryish black as it has charcoal in it..

I have looked under the glovebox and cannot work out which bit is the pollen filter? I have taken the cover off that is held on by torx screws. Sorry if i sound thick.
