Shocking

The way how i was dealt with was shocking.

I made my stance against them and got a better result

Camera is locked away on saturday's as no warranty work will be done

Pathetic excuse. The warrantly bloke i was dealing with should have the key!

New purchase of TDi FR went through fine (good trade-in price and discount), but not happy with the pre-delivery inspection. Was it done?

*Loose trim around steering column by pedal box should have been spotted. It was flapping around by the clutch pedal
*Tyres not taken out of transport mode, so drove off with 47psi all round
*Didn't look as though it had been polished properly
*There was absolutely nothing written anywhere to say I was the first owner, no radio code, no sticker in manual or under boot carpet (salesman claimed Seat had forgotten to put one there - I doubt it!), no writing of any sort in any of the manuals. I have managed to find out what I can myself.
*I have ordered a couple of things (front flaps and crono yellow touch-up), but did this through Paterson SEAT in Newcastle. Fortunately I was working in Newcastle so collected them. Saved me going to Arnold Clark!

I have removed anything mentioning Arnold Clark from my car and won't be taking if there for service/warranty work. Salesman too keen to get his commission and the sale done asap (even quoted my around £80 to get the front flaps fitted - really??).

So it's very much:redcard::redcard::redcard:

Very wise decision. I made the mistake of paying for my first 2 services upfront and then they found other things 'wrong' with the car when I did take it in, costing me more. Thankfully my old man saw sense when he took his MK3 into the Motherwell branch under their service plan. He got the service done, but refused to pay for any other work, just asking them for a pricelist of everything they said needed done. The windscreen wipers and exhaust they said needed replacing in autumn 2004 have only just been replaced very recently!

I know it's not a SEAT, but a workmate's Alfa 147 went in for a £170 service last week. He drove the 50 or so miles to Perth where he bought it from to get it done. They told him it needed rear struts replaced as one was excessively worn and the other was slightly worn. Considering it's only done 6000 miles in the year since it was registered, I am a bit unsure about that and I told him so. They also said his air-con needed recharging. I thought that was a 2 year thing?

Does your mate live in Edinburgh? Driving over the cobbled streets won't help. The rest of the roads around here aren't the best either!

If I remember rightly Arnold Clark have a Alfa garage in Edinburgh. Don't know if I could recommend it's taken there though.

Nah, Livingston. He hardly drives it though. Only goes to work and then there's the occasional drive to the coast, although that coast can sometimes be Stranraer, Berwick or Peterhead, just for the hell of it.

I said to him about a local Alfa garage, but he's dealt with them in Perth before and refuses to take it elsewhere.

See thread further down the page titled 'Appalling dealer alert'. Unfortunately more rants about Arnold Clark in Edinburgh.

The dealer with the Parts dept who said Crono Yellow touch-up paint was only available to special order and had to come from Spain, and it would be at least two weeks. Did they ever get it? No idea , I was never contacted.

Had already got it from Paterson's in Newcastle - took two days for them to get it!

when looking for my FR TDi i went in with my online quote that was from a dealer in Grimsby he said no way was a Seat dealer selling for that price, he wouldn't even come close to it"not worth his while"
On leaving A/C i went round the back to get my Golf, you can see into the servicing bays where a football was being kicked about the place not on the ground were talking launched about the place.felt sorry for the folks cars that were in that day.
needless to say i dont take my car there for servicing.

Well Arnold Clark admitted my FR TDi came from Grimsby. And I know that dealer offer some of the best deals in the UK. I nearly purchased one from them, but was a bit far to travel to get a part-ex figure. So I wonder what A/C paid for my car?

I suspect there'll be a few servicing bays like that, not just A/C. As I've mentioned before I'll be getting mine serviced elsewhere.
