• Hi Guest There will be essential maintenance on the server on Monday 10th November from 5am meaning the website will be offline for a period of time. We will do everything to ensure the downtime is kept to a minimum.
So i'll just assume tinting in front of the b-pillar is illegal - that's easier than percentages, since there's already a standard tint in place...

For fear of being beaten senseless for missing it - can someone clear-cut me the law regarding tinting the rear windows?

sorry to say, not trying to be an ass, but are you sure your can't get tinits for the front sides?? i had mine do on my last leon, the company who did it for me had a light meter and showed me before and after the tint was fitted, was bang on the limit.

Did look poo, as the back lot was limo black, couldn't see a dam thing out of the back in the dark, not getting on my new leon

a light meter really doesnt help as it depends how bright it is the other side of the window, and if they showed you outside with the door open and sun shining then it would read ok.

no mate, the light meter goes on each side of the window, and then fires a beam from one side to the other, which gives you a readin of how tinted they are.

Read the link I posted earlier in this discussion, as it included the law in both simple and exact terms. That's why I posted it.

We are and no, you're not allowed to tint them. Anything forward of the B-pillar cannot be tinted beyond 70%, standard tinted glass is about 80% and as 90% tints don't exist that means no tint film at all can be applied to the front windows.

Ever get the feeling you're banging your head against a brick wall Rob?

Yep ... frustrating innit!

just get them all done to the legal limit

:banghead:

Regardless of what the law says, has anyone actually been done for light tints on the front, say 60%?

28% with the OP, I'm not surprised he got done.

I had 35% tints all round, Police measured the fronts and they let 45% light through, legal limit is 70% so they gave me a 10 day rectification notice to remove them. I had them removed and clear security film fitted instead.
