Does anyone know how to get to/ replace the bulbs that light the speedo & rev counter? the lights that light up the digital reader for the mileage and clock are working ok.

a couple weeks ago the light for the rev counter went, which was bearable, but now the speedo' one's gone too, which means its probably better off fixing it.

is this a common fault and why might it have done this? just old bulbs?

btw the model is a '99 1.4 s

help appreciated.

couple of screws on the underside of the top ledge of the Dial binnacle .. remove this through the steering whel.. fidly but it does come out.. then you should have (four?) more screws holding the dial binnacle in to place.. remove and again the dials CAN come out through the steering wheel.. really REALLY fiddly but saves taking the steering wheel off;).. access to tiny bulbs at rear of binnacle .. to refit, reverse process

Brummy`s spot on, all bar there being 2 screws holding the dials inand not 4 :p. And a little tip use a magnetic screwdriver when talking out the screws that hold the dials in otherwise you`ll be looking for the screws for days! (been there done that!!)

If its just the speedo and rev counter bulbs you have to replace you should be able to get away with taking the outer trim out and just pulling the dials forward and the bulbs are situated at the top 5 minute job!

had an old 205 1.4 that did that. hitting the dash made no difference though.

At around the same time the clutch got really bad (had done 127k though!), the handbrake promptly died and it had some serious tin-worm on the sills.

needless to say I sold it. Got 80 quid back, not bad considering i bought it for 50 :D
