I currently drive a rover 200...... yeah i know, but i got it cheap.

I really want something a bit more substantial and a leon cupra seems ideal.

I have two children so need something a bit bigger and also fancy a car with a bit of poke.

The only things putting me off are insurance - although i'm 25 soon, and mpg as i commute 50 miles per day - but my rover only does 75-80 miles to £10.00 anyway, how does a cupra compare?

I really want one but i just have a gut feeling i should be more sensible.

Any arguements for and against are most welcome.

sounds like you need a TDi Leon or Golf, low insurance, superb pace and that all importnat fuel economy

Thanks ant, i will look into those options further.

Any experience with golfs? how big is the boot as i have to often carry a double buggy and shopping?

Also isn't the price of buying a tdi leon a lot more than a cupra? what are peoples thoughts on the tdi se compared to the tdi fr?

get the diesel.

yes ok will be more initially but not that much.

anyway you will save way more than that in fuel given you drive 50 miles per day!

why not get a quote and compare. get a quote for the cupra and diesel.
you will be doing well to get 30mpg in a cupra and more like 50 in the diesel id expect.

Golf 130 Tdi's start at 5k for high milers, 7-8k for a good un.

Leon 130 se's are rare really, not too many about. The 15o tdi cupras/ FR hold their price well, even Rough Cupra Tdi's are still at the 9k bracket and for an FR you are looking nearer 12k.

Also may want to consider the Bora Tdi, a very under stated car, is availabel in 150 tdi form and is the cheapest of the lot. Just a golf witha boot, and a more attractive front end.

All of them will swallow a Pushchair with nice size boots, hatchback may be more practical for this though over the saloon

The Bora has always been an option for me, the only thing putting me off is they are quite common.

I think TDI's for everyday driving are much quicker, sure the 0-60 times are not quite the same but when your in 4th at want to nip past someone TDI's are great..

I do love my Leon though. While it has a nice big boot which will fit a pram and shopping in easily there is not a lot of room in the back. I have a six month year old boy and I have to move the seat forwards and backwards to get his car seat in. Adults struggle for leg room too. That is why we got an Altea. I average just under 30MPG which is about 300 miles on a tank. The tax is a bit of a blow each year its about 200 notes.

Cupra 20VT & Altea TDI

Get the diesel leon and insure it through greenlight, and I reckon you could even save money!

You can remap a diesel and get up to 190-200bhp. Depending on the clutch, it's the weak link.

How much is a 150 brake diesel goong to cost to buy in the first place? I'm thinking its going to be out of my budget before i can even think about performance mods.
