Got a 54 plate leon cupra (180bhp), with forge 007p and carbonio CAI fitted

Looking to get a remap, and was wandering what sort of bhp / torque figures people with similar setups got after remaps??

0 - 60 times??

And what remaps are the best for sudden power which will last through the revs (basically just make it feel much faster all through the revs)

Also - anyone heard of angeltuning.co.uk?? what are they like??

cheers guys

you can get all types of maps, Revo stage 1 agressive, but you can get a map from CC, Torque P torque, bell autos, ect. check the tunning section and give them a a call.
Well i havent herd from angeltunning.

Forget about 0-60, seriously, it's totally and utterly meaningless and is a terrible way to judge any car, let alone a FWD car.

Firstly, it's more about gearing than 'performance' and power. You could have a car with low power but gearing that makes it hit 60 in second which, on paper, looks faster than another car with more power but gearing that hits 60 in third.

Secondly, getting this sort of power to the ground from a standing start in a front wheel drive car is tricky. So you'll end up spending more time watching your tyres (and money) burn a hole in the ground, than you will accelerating.

Lastly, timing 0-60 is very, very tricky. So unless you have expensive, professional timing gear, any time you come up with will be guesswork and incredibly unreliable.

indeed RobM, but never hear of lambo, ferraris, veyron reviews talk about gear ratios dis n dat do we - its always 0 to 60 this n 0 to 60 that

not to 60 is what people are interested in, thats why i asked - cuz 9 outta 10 ppl who i show my car to ask me straight away

I see your logic, but it's flawed. It's the Max Power generation that have demanded to know about 0-60 times. Only an idiot would use this to compare two cars performance.

And in any case, you wont find an answer to your question easily as it's so hard to get an accurate timing. Anybody that offers a time that was recorded on their stopwatch when they ragged it should be poked in the eye and then ignored.

rob, while i agree with your sentiment about 0-60 being a bad way to judge a cars performance i think it can be useful in giving a quick general comparison between cars.

what i mean is, a car that does 0-60 in 5 seconds is LIKELY to have a fairly quick top speed and it can be useful when comparing to a car that does 0-60 in say 10 seconds. as a statistic it really means nothing when it comes to ownership but it can be useful when getting a general idea about the pace or not of a car.

When you're talking about a difference of double, then for sure. But we're not, we're going to be talking about a difference of less than a second, probably less than half a second as more power means less chance of getting traction!

agreed rob, but wazo was saying that people who he shows the car to want to know, they might be driving vw camper vans as a comparison :) (im just playing devils advocate here, not trying to start an arguement)

lol - i dunno why people ask, it dosent bother me one bit but you probably all know yourself that it is what people always ask!

I normally boast about bhp more dan i do acceleration, but for some reason, my mates who have Gallardos, Evos, S2000s, Type Rs etc all seem 2 wanna know 0 - 60 times - which is rather annoying!!

Anyway, anyone recommend any remaps?? Im in Scotland, how about Star performance?

Your mates have gallardos

Why would they care about how quick a LC could do 0-60 in? They're hardly of the maxpower club mentality;)

Remapped LC will do it in low 6 secs.

Lotus elise does 0-60 in 5secs but 100 in around 20 secs so its a rubbish way of determining a cars performance imo
Imprezas can do 0-60 in 5.4secs but a clio cup 172 who has a 7sec 60 run can keep pace 30-120.

Wish people would get out of this 0-60 rubbish, if your wanting a quick 0-60 time, you need traction. You've bought the wrong type of car being FWD for that;)

I agree with the 0-60 thing, great if its standard easy way to tell BUT, in real performance it mid range and out of corner speeds!
Dont go to Angeltunning, 2 of my mates have had there cars done by them (S3 225 and Astra GSi) Not impressed with either - at all!!!

Go to see John Berry @ Bedrock VeeDubs in Motherwell 01698 254666.
He always gives a very good custom RR remap service. Tell him Wullie Rankin sent you!

Good things have been said of star fab.
Is it robdon and songman that have used them. you might want to drop them a personal message as they are both from around that area

personally i would agree. 0-60 means F:censored:k all.
Im not interested in how quick i can go in a staright line.
Im more interested how fast im am in and out of corners.
Come on noe guy were not american we do know what corners are.

1/4 Mile times are what should be stated when talking figures. Worth a whole lot more.

I mean, why not talk about top-speeds... completely irrelevant because given a 10 mile straight run.. im sure i can reach a top-speed completely different from that stated by the SEAT derived figures.

1/4 mile is where it's at.

I've heard only good things about Star Performance mate.

I'm thinking of getting my LC mapped shortly as well and i think i would travel to them simply because of what i've heard about them.

Let me know where you end up going, I stay just up the road from you :)

People will never get away from the 0-60 mentallity

Unfortunately, Top Gear always state them, most average Joes dont understand Torque, BHP and if told a 1/4 mile time, they wouldn't know what to do with that information.

I agree with Rob though.

It would be interesting to start a stop watch thread and see how much they differ, of course loads of variables here
Wheel Spin
Driver
Speed of Gear Change
Person starting and stoping stopwatch
How cold it is that day ;)

who wants to start that thread then? it would be funny to see the results.
