Just Ordered a Leon FR TDI - Got A Few Questions!

Hi all,

I've jut ordered a Leon FR TDI and the order doesn't go through to the lease company until the end of next week. I'm really pleased with my choice of car, but I'm still considering changing the colour from Black Magic to Candy White! Decisions, decisions! The additional spec I have chosen are the 18" alloy wheels, iPod connection and bixenon headlights.

Could someone please explain to me how the iPod connection works? I know with previous VW group cars, you had to set up 6 playlists. I'm assuming the technology has moved on a bit sinc then! Does the display show artist and track names?

Also, like the other VW goup cars, do the bixenon lights give off that cool looking blue light? I know this is a characteristic of xenon bulbs, but some manufacturer's xenon bulbs just look bright white, with not much blue light!

And lastly, how does the 170 PS engine combined with 18" wheels do on fuel economy? I'm hoping that with a lot of motorway driving I'll see it reach the late 40's on MPG!

Thanks in advanc for all of your help, I really appreciate it.

Nick :)

Nope exactly the same, it hasn't changed. Still 6 playlists

Can't say i've looked that closely, but they appear to me, to be very bright white.

Pic here when we went on the Cupra press day back in February.

Hi, welcome, Nice choice of car, first thing first you must order bluetooth as a option no if or buts order it, white or black only you can make that choice, fuel economy lowish 40s on a run, i-pod very basic no track name ect, bi xenons are very good but i think they are more of a white light than blue, hope this helps a little(just a quick point if you order white i think you will be waiting until september.)

STOP.... Go order the bluetooth pack NOW. (then read the rest of this post!)

Motorways, driving in 6th smoothly around 70-80 your looking at around 46 -50mpg. I've had it as high as 58 on a slow drive :)

Xenons, white with a very light blue tint.

Thank you all for your replies, much appreciated.

I would have ordered the bluetooth kit, but the company I work for are VERY safety conscious and consequently have very strict rules for field based staff who are on the road a lot. So that means absolutely no phone calls whilst driving...ever!

They won't sign the order off with that option on the list, as even in my own time, I'm not allowed to use a phone whilst driving a company vehicle, irrespective of whether it's legal or not! I would have liked the upgraded computer and voice control too!

The iPod system sounds just like the 'older' VW ones, would have been nice to see the track names, etc.

The reason I ask about the xenon lights is because I like the look of the blue/white light! It's the vain element comming out of me! Although, I would always have them as an option as the light beam they produce is far superior to any other bulb.

My dad has a VW Phaeton with bixenon lights and thy look really blue when they're on. I think they look great, so I thought being part of the same group would mean that Seat use the same lights/bulbs? Anyone know if this is true?

Just out of interest, why is the bluetooth kit so highly rated?

Thanks again for your help guys.

You get the large LCD display, does things like shows mpg / range / doors opened / radio station / also you can configure things like door locking / unlocking settings + lights comming home function (how long they stay on) + some other stuff... oh and yes also you can link your phone to it.

I really want that option now! It seems like it does so much!

Does the half screen computer show average mpg, fuel range in tank, display radio info, etc?

Thanks again.

Thanks for that mate.

All in all, I think the Leon FR is probably the best looking car in its class by some distance. I just need to decide tonight on what colour to order!

White looks awesome, but EVERYONE on these forums has a white one now. Ok maybe not everyone, the cool people don't. Like me, for example. Black magic is lurrrvveeleee, depends if you want to wash it or not.

White or black looks best, with zenith grey, emocion red and luna grey ... This car will have a hard time not looking awesome, really. Unless you want a pink one, in which case you deserve a beating :D
