IS it chipped or not

do all cordy 1.6 aft engine make a very different induction sound when you go reach 4000rpm.
on my cordy it's as if ecu is opening engine up more.
exhaust/induction note goes a lot deeper.
on the flat it will top out @125
had a race with a 1.6 16v c2 gti thing and it could not pass until cordy was over 120 guy was pissed off to say the least

all done on racetrack of course :funk:

My import 1.6 SXE has apparently hit the 140 mark, just off the clock by my friend who I bought it off. I've done 125 kicking the jacksy off a Saxo in it and it felt like it had plenty left to be honest. The induction roar you hear is something that all cars based on the Golf GTI engines do so I've been told, personally I think it sounds pretty cool

no offence ment but surely the 1.6 has only got 75bhp like the mk2 golf, 100bhp max if its a polo engine. i dont see how you can get 130/140 out of it. my 1.8 gti would only do 122ish.

Maybe it is the polo engine, I'm not sure to be honest. Like I said though, I got a very easy 125 out of it and my friend went off the clock with it on the expressway near me before sending it sideways, scaring himself to death and selling it to me. I know its definately a 100bhp engine though as i ordered a K&N induction kit for the 1.6 98 and it only fitted to the 75bhp engines

100bhp the 1.6 aft is and i had to back off in mine at 135 as it was like driving on a cushion of air.

LMFAO, dream on.

the coupe has terrible aerodynamics though for lift - however I think you're applying a bit too much poetic licence there

on a seriouse note my cordy 1.6 hit 130 mph stuck between a audi a3 and escort 2.0 zetec racing on a private road, the 1.6 will go round to 7k rpm, mine was at 6725(approx) and still had plenty of pull. my cordy reached 0-60 slower than the a3 and escort, but pulled away at 85 through to 130. i dernt push it anymore then that just incase the arse end steps out.

these are genuine figures which have been proven to the people iv raced with. i shat myself driving a twitchy car at that speed but it does do that speed.

the only mods i had at the time was an airfilter.

the only way you will know for defo is to do it yourself.

so what your saying is you need to put a big cossie whale tail on it. to give it some down force lol. and a big carbon under tray to keep it on the ground :)
