Heya guys. Had a nice price quoted to my from a local performance garage for a set of Green stuff pads for my LC. Seeing as my current ones are running a little thing at the moment, I thought I'd take them.

Any experiences to share with these pads? Any good?

I've been told Red stuff are no use to me due to not generating enough heat to actual produce friction in every-day driving.. This true?

Oh, btw.. free chocolate: http://www.cadbury.co.uk/EN/CTB2003/product_info/Bournville/new_sample.htm

I belive Red Stuff pads are for heavy race use where heat would be generated and quickly dissipated with these pads.

Green stuff are more for fast road use with modified cars etc. They gave me more braking power when I used them on a 205 GTI, they do wear out the discs quicker though as they are more abraisive than the std ones.

the yellow stuff are the more race prepared pads

and bluff stuff are track only and more for endurance races

Green stuff

Designed for premium street driving offering better brake effect at loads and speed. EBC Greenstuff has a high initial brake effect and gives drivers confidence from first application of the brake pedal. There is no such thing as a NO DUST pad. The very nature of how a brake works requires that some dust be generated to avoid rotor vibration (shimmying). The EBC pad creates less dust and dust is more easily washed off than most. All pads create more dust as they are bedding in especially if rotors are worn. Features EBC Brake-In™ surface coating which conditions rotor surface and accelerates pad bed-in.
EBC Description of Green Stuff. - "Greenstuff" is the name coined to describe our current sport automotive pad. A high friction Aramid based organic pad with very low metallic content that comes on strong from first application of the brake pedal, without disc damage and minimal brake dust. Recommended for road use and hillclimb only

Red Stuff

Since this material was introduced in late 2003, it has received many positive write ups from performance drivers of faster cars. This is a truly impressive fast road pad for repeated heavy braking. It emits far less dust than semi-metallic pads and has been proven to stop a saloon car 13 metres quicker than OEM pads from 100mph/160kph. Features EBC Brake-In™ surface coating which conditions rotor surface and accelerates pad bed-in.
EBC Description of Red Stuff. - “Redstuff”, our semi metallic high performance road material made a flying start in saloon car racing, having clinched the Slick 50 Saloon Car Championship with the Honda of Ian Mitchell in 1997, with extensive use by many race teams going into 1999 on the Porsche 924 Championship cars and on European Citroen Saxo and BMW class racing. Now only recommended for road use in cars with 200BHP+.

Yellow Stuff

Although a full race material and capable of high temperature use with very good wear life, this new formulation sets a new trend in race type brake pad compounds. The “bite” from cold is superb which is uncommon with race materials (normally requiring warm-up) and makes this a pad which can be safely used on the highway as well as on the race track. This new formulation was used by numerous championship race and rally drivers in 2004 and is truly a milestone in brake pad material development. Nominal friction coefficient 0.6 with zero rotor damage.
EBC Description of Yellow Stuff. - “Yellowstuff” is the name for EBC’s latest full race formulation which is currently in race use in Europe and was the choice of 1999/2000/2001 series winners Nick Reynolds and Martin Bell in the BMW Class, Westfield and S2000 Championships in 2002.
****Yellow Stuff is now the official brake pad of the Subaru Challenge.****

I am personally seriously looking at the yellow stuff as they are only £10 more than the red stuff pads
but i am hoping to be producing near 280bhp very soon

Do not use Green on your car - too soft a pad for the weight/power

Red is the more appropriate and will work better

Not as well as DS2500 ferodo's however.

tried yellows in mine.
not impressed. poor performance and mullared disks and pads in one race.

DS3000's back in and all well and rosey again.

No comparison - ferodo's much better performance

ATE power disks are great, Jonjay has a set with DS2500 pads, his stopping power is remarkable!

Get EBC Redstuff.. Using them on my Stage 1 Revo LC with std discs.
Did a full trackday at Bedford GT circuit over easter (new 4.2 miler) its a hard brake tester for sure. Mine got seriously hot (turned front discs blue) but didn't fade all day. Perfect on the road too.
Std pads I could fade out with spirited road driving!!

i am using the green stuff on mine, running about 210BHP and have found them to be very good, although i do have cross drilled and groved disk from EBC.
I have been in a car with the DS2500 and i have to say with standard discs they were awsome! so i think i may have to get these on mine with the EBC disks for some serious stopping power

Spoke to the R&D manager for EBC the other day. NEw Red stuff recomended for LC and LCR. As an upgrade from std i have put green on the back of mine. Amazing the difference to the ammount of brake dust.

Have used green stuff on previous cars. NEver had a problem. Did get through two sets of EBC discs due to warping but i have heard they have moved on since then.

Have used yellow stuff extensively on road use and they are fine. A little wooden when cold unless the braking system is powerful, but absolutely no fading with heat. The fluid will boil before the pads fade.

Will deffinately be buying red stuff for the front. Much better value for money than Ferodo. After all how much time are you likely to spend on a track???

really? i used a set of redstuff's in five months on my LCR just driving on her majesty's highways and at around the £100 a set didn't come across as good value for money. i didn't go for the ds2500's i went for the ferodo ds performance pads. not only are they better performing than the EBC's they were also slightly cheaper too.
