LCR Square Plate

I've seen a few LCR's with the square front plate and think it looks pretty good and am now quite tempted. I believe some dealers also supplied square plates as standard?

I have searched and read a few posts on this and have the following questions:

1. What size plate should I order, is the standard 11" x 8" square plate the correct size?

2. Are square plates legal? I can't see anything specific on the DVLA site other than the lettering and spacing have to be to the correct dimensions.

Also if anyone has a picture of a black LCR with a square plate I'd be interested.

Thanks in advance!

Andy

I think one dealer did square plates as standard.

Do a search on "beaver" to see what MOST people think about them, though

One of the biggest styling aspects of the LCR is the front bumper. The aggressive looks are partly down to the large grill at the bottom centre, so to me that seems lost when you go and fill it all with a square plate!

I see your point Rob, but i think it looks better than a standard plate, obviously the smaller the plate the better though - if i could i'd remove it completely.

Besides, everyone knows that cars with square plates are faster :p

Thanks for the response name taken, do you know what dimensions your plate is? Does it still use the standard fixing points?

I appreciate that this is a bit of a marmite thing but won't cost too much and I figure if I don't like the look I haven't really lost anything.

yeh mate, you still use the standard fixing point, drill your holes on the plate bout 2 inch form the top and screw it staight into te backing plate on the bumper!
BUT, dont, just get a short one or leave a ling one on!

Not sure on the legality of them but I really like the 3/4 size plates. I'm very tempted to change mine.

as ling as the letters are the right size and font and the spacing is perfect and there is enough plate round each letter its fine for any size, couple up here that are dodgey but still legal,1 letter and 1 number and the plate is a cm each side! its fine tho, right size letters with enough plate each side!

I totally agree with the above, surely having the plate right infront of the FMIC isnt a good idea, no direct air flow into it, kind of defeats the object of having it FM

My car is standard at the moment and I believe the LCR has twin side mounted intercoolers so don't think it should affect airflow.
