yet more problems!! electrics this time

on sunday it rain heavy and steady here all day, i went out to meet a mate and some roads were slightly flooded and had no choice but to go through which i did slowly, then when i got to the place i turned my car off, when i went to restart all lights came on flickering and making like a clicking noise eventually stopped and got it back home, but then i couldnt lock the car using remote or start the car so prsumed battery got a new one today fitted it but when i started the car a small amount of smoke came from the steering coloum, does this sound like a really big problem? had no electrical trouble until went out in the heavy rain!

ooo that doesnt sound good, especially getting smoke in the cabin.

maybe you should get it to an auto electrician.

wasnt much smoke, i recently wired my headunit in under the steering wheel and since then i had some probs so i might take it out!

what would most likely cause your recent electric faults ?

the recent rain or previous British weather the car endured since new? or the very recent wired up stereo in cabin ?

check ya wiring first then go from there

mine done exactly the same , pop the ecu out and get the hairdryer on it quick before it soaks in , if u have left it to long it would of fooked the ecu .

most of time this happens to cars were they have taken out the ecu
