H1 bulbs are dipped beam:
HIDs on my new car - wayhey!

Just had them aligned and never had anyone flash me or had any bother.
I got bosch HIDs which arent a japanese replica, but you get what you pay for.

Ebay - £60ers
proper HID conversions - £120+ (dependent on fitment , for example H4 bi-xenon and H1 dipped)

Hope that clears it up for you a bit. You dont get projector bulbs, its projector lamps that are on the GTI, just means you have more bulbs to replace, one for normal dipped beam driving and another for high beam

my mate bought some HIDs and bought new headlights because the standard ones arent crystal clear, and they mess up the light beam. HIDs need to aimed, he bought projector headlight and put the HID's in that

Just checked on a site there mate, looks like all GTI's have H1 bulbs for dipped and main beam..
Im sure one of the valver lads will spot the thread and give you a definate answer.

correct, urs has the slit in the centre. facelift splitter is a lot nicer.

If you can squeeze an LCR splitter under it, defo do it, done it on mines and it brings the front end out a lot and a bit unique...all for £20.00

my red mk2 was lowered about 75mm on the front with GTI facelift spoiler and i fitted an LCR splitter, ripped it off the same day

I think the LCR one is about an inch in height..so you could probs tell from that how low your car would be..lower the better though..

Hey Chris, get your HIDs from here. I can vouch for their quality and best of all they will only set you back about £70 delivered. You need the H1 kit for the GTI. Takes about 2 weeks to deliver them as its an American website and they send the kit to you straight from the factory in China. Same as the Hella HID kit without the hella stickers ;)
