I am right in thinking most of them come spec'd with these?, was it an option on the 2.0TDi Sport?

Think that appeared in 2006, may be 2005, but not in 2004 for sure.

some clearification ... assumed that UK 5P-models had/have the same history as the german models:

my2005 .... CD1/CD2 w/o MP3 , CD3 incl. MP3
my2006 .... CD1/CD2 w/o MP3 , CD2+MP3/ CD3 incl. MP3
my2007 .... CD1/CD2/CD3 all come along with MP3

you can tell by the small (MP3) logo below the cd slot if it's a MP3-drive

I knew it was complex Klaus.... then you get to the bit's that Seat off, the auto dipper rear view, the false boot floor, the engine compartment cover and you think, "I'm really glad I bought it when prices were over the top on a new car, since you knew what you were getting" .... mind you I still maintain that build quality is better on begining of productions runs and they drop it off as time goes by to save money. Certainly they drop off the extras although you do have technology advance such as MP3 and the AUX in, but the same old crap speakers.....

This 05 model I tried yesterday definatley didnt have MP3, as I tried a disc in it

I guess so, but this has definitely to be done by the manufacturer BLAUPUNKT ... and there is no way (even not for dealers) to upgrade the original built-in headunits.

Sorry, but no "downloadable update" or some other hack to expand the features of your SEAT CD drive.
