Engine losing power

When accelerating in any gear, intermittently the power dips like the rev limiter is kicking in. If i lift my foot off and accelerate again it is fine. I have just had the timing chain sorted so not that, one coil pack has been replaced so far (unrelated). Have you any ideas fellas as to what is wrong?

maybe whoever replaced the timing chain has put it on incorrectly!

did the timing chain fail/jump ? 50k miles is about the norm for that fault

if so you could have a damaged valve or two

get a compression test done when hot and cold

Could it be a fault with the lamda sensor?

its something every 1 should know as it is a serious situation i took my car to seat for peice of mind that it was in good hands and they put it on wrong and fooked the car up!

similar happened to my mates mum's golf gti at a VW dealership!

like you say, you take it to the dealer ship for peace of mind as the technicians should know the cars inside out!

f g up replacement of cambelts & timing chains is crazy school boy mistakes!

its something every 1 should know as it is a serious situation i took my car to seat for peice of mind that it was in good hands and they put it on wrong and fooked the car up!

so it was the cam belt on wrong that fooked your turbo ?

i belive so yes still need to get the turbo sent away even to see if it was damaged or it was just the dodgey cambelt that was making it LOOK like the turbo had gone! lots of the mk3 beezers want to buy my old turbo but i need to no if its fooked or not

I have just done a 40 mile round trip. When accelerating in most gears now it is feeling like it is going to stall. It is using fuel pretty heavily. When i floor it in all gears it is going well. It is the mid-ranges where i am having problems. The engine management light is still off. I am baffled. WTF can i do? What can it be?
The same happened on my Pug 306 before i sold it, eventually it just started cutting out, i can't get it to a garage til the weekend either - pulling my hair out!
