New tyres = heavy steering?

HI, not sure if this is an actual problem or not but basically just replaced all 4 tyres, an thought I'd give the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's a go on the front.

However since I've had them on I've noticed the steering has felt quite heavy, checked all the pressures and they were at 32psi, so then thought I'd go and get the tracking checked.

Tracking was 2mm out on one side so got that done, but steering felt even heavier:shrug:

SO i'm not sure if ive got some problem or weather its just because im not used to the tyres and the massive amounts of grip they have? Last time i had new tyres on the front, had some dunlop sport which I run down to the wear limiters, i remember the steering feeling lighter afterwards tho??

I fitted to GSD3's to our Fiesta when we had it and the steering felt heavier then - the tyres are amazingly grippy and you can really feel the difference when they go on

I finall got to the bottom of my heavy steering and just general bad feel....the monkey who fitted my tyres obiously hadn't had his nuts that day as he couldn't balance my wheels! when i took it to a different garage to get it checked they found 110g of weight on one wheel and bout 100g on another wheel! when t was balance all it needed was 45g on one and 35g on the other!!

now its all balanced and tracked properly, the car is feeling great, plenty of grip and the steering is back to feeling a bit lighter!

Whats the policy on here of naming an shaming the garage that fitted my tyres?

jay-bob ...i'd check the pressures on your sons car, or maybe it feels heavier because the cupra r has bigger wheels than the tdi? 17" instead of 16"....just a thought?

yes, the LCR has a different/shorter steering rack and therefore has heavier steering.
