Hi

I test drove a 2005/54 plate Ibiza Cupra about 3 weeks ago. The reason i drove it was because i went looking for a VW Golf GTi and found it to be very dissapointing. To SLOW!

I then test drove the Cupra. WOW:drool:

30hp more than the Golf GTi. Considerably lighter, but the same engine! If you had the choice between modifying a Golf Gti or a Cupra, which would you do?

Modifying i mean . . . . . re-map - exhaust - induction kit - suspension - etc

The golf is a nice car to modify externally also - R32 kits - Anniversary - etc
but not 100% about the Ibiza.

I was drawn straight away buy the power of the Cupra (180hp) but the Golf can be just as quick

Sorry for the long thread but im stuck!

Cheers guys ;)

depends wat you want for size etc mate, the ibizas obviously smaller, prone to a few more rattles but arent as common, some of the ibizas on here have been very tastefully modified have a look at the pics section of the forum!

And as youve said ligher.. which will always bea plus point! The Ibiza Cupra is the flagship model aswell, so climate control, nice interior, big brakes!! There is a MK4 Ibiza that has just been IHI'd with 333bhp :D

WOW. Crazy s:censored: t!

I am right in thinkin that the Cupra has 180hp with a ko3s turbo? and that it is an identical engine to the Golf GTi? Have many people modified ibiza's on this forum?

most people on here have m8 yer...i have the pd130 (the FR diesel), remapped by revo and its meant to have 180bhp and 300lbs/ft torque...i generally find that it keeps up with most 200bhp petrols until i reach 80 odd when the petrols top end speeds are clearly better than my diesel's. I've also got coilovers as the standard suspension was pants after being used to only lowered cars in the past.

if you do a search on ere, you'll find loadsa mods people have done

My mate has a 1.8T GTI Golf and can't keep up with me, even standard he struggled!

He wants a diesel now and is looking at Ibiza Fabia VRS, trouble with Golf is as standard its very wallowy (spelling?) where as Ibiza drives so much better.

Golf 1.8T 150bhp has KO3

gotta go for the cupra mate! (but i would say that) dont run with the crowd (golf)! The beezer cupra is rare FAST and lots of tuning options! and most of all looks the nuts goes the nuts!

coupleof pics to show what small tasteful touches can transform the beezer cupra into

Ibiza everytime. More exclusive, faster lighter, and nipper.

And if it matters the ladies seem to prefer ibizas over golfs also :funk:

Edit.

Just read that the car will be a weekend driver for you. Seeing as thats the case how about getting something a little more hardcore than the cupra?

I had a MKIV Golf TDI before the beeza and I loved it, BUT I love the ibiza more. It is nicer to drive than the fat golf and its a bit more rare!

My mate has got a S3 and on the way back from paintballing today he had a spin in my ibiza - he was very impressed with the way it shifted and handles ;)

 Sorry I'm a bit confused, so I'll ask the question........

Was it the Mk5 Golf GTI (200BHP) that you test drove or was it an earlier model?

If it was the MK5 then the Beza doesn't have 30 more BHP unless there is something wrong with the golf.

If you enjoyed the Beza try the new Leon Cupra as well, then you will really have a decision to make.

I had a Golf gt tdi before my Ibiza as well. I think the golf interior is much nicer than the Ibiza, however the Ibiza is much more fun to drive. The Golf was made in 180bhp form like the Ibiza (it will have the engine code AUQ) however most of them were only 150bhp though. Its much easier to get parts for the golf and once they have been remapped etc they will be pretty much the same speed. I don't think that the Ibiza is THAT much lighter than the golf, but it definately handles alot better.

It was only the 25th anniversary MK4 golfs that had 180hp. Beeza Cupra would still be faster and be a better handler though as the MK4 golf is meant to be poor.

Hey guys. Sorry only just replied. I dont want anything else. This is the car for me. I'm only 21 so this car (believe it or not) is the limits. Insurance wouldn't touch me on anything else!

I was refering to the MK4 Golf, sorry, should have specified!

I'm going to get my money together sell my golf and go for a Red Ibiza Cupra. Seen them for 9,000 big ones.

Do you guys think red is a nice colour? Did they make Candy White of V.Dark grey ones of the Cupra?
