where can i get a driver that works for one of the e-bay vag-com cables?
i did have it but lost it when i rebooted my comp.
any ideas?

Loads of people, myself included, have bought the alpha-bid cable and have no problems with it. Plenty of info in this forum about it if you need to know more.
Think you need to assign the usb cable to the same com pot number as VAG COM is reading from. So if VAG is looking at com 3, then the usb poort it is plugged into needs to be port 3 on the computer. Think you need to change it un comp settings in the contorl pannel

Um...is your computer recognising the usb port you are plugged into as being com port 3? (i take it you have a usb to OBD11 cable) Then on VAG COM, you are running from com port 3 too. If the computer has say..com port 11 down as the one your usb is plugged into, then it wont work. As far as i know. have a search mate, or hit Ross techs website and have a look fella.

i got my alpha-bid cable through today, took me about 10 minutes to get up and running, downloaded the driver, let it do the automatic update thing that it does, downloaded the twin usb vag com version, plugged it in and away i went. Best £13.50 i've spent.
when i installed the drivers for the lead, it came up on the computer "new hardware found", "do you want to install drivers" then click yes and it should search for a while and install 2 sets of drivers - which are both needed. If you have installed the drivers correctly you should be able to go into your control panel, then to system settings, then hardware and the usb should be recognised, it shouldnt have a yellow question mark next to it - if it does - its not installed correctly.
