If it was me... I wouldn't even consider the plate for £5,000... despite 'wanting it since you passed your test' - you've gotta ask yourself is it worth it, really...

Get the car remapped... loads of power and plenty of fun! :)

Oh, just to reiterate.. plate. Bad idea.

I bought my g/f one, her second name.. basically. S3LF (Self). And the car still moves at the same speed :S It doesn't turn any quicker, nor does it brake harder!

I just can't work out why I paid four figures for it.... 0.0% performance increase :S All it's done is attract unwanted attention of jealous nob jockeys.

I shan't be spending anywhere near that mark again on a private plate. The same cash would of bought her a Marlin superchip, performance exhaust and a lowering! Ohhh.. Diamond also charged her £30 to change the registration on her policy ... wtf?

If you spend 5k on a plate you need your head checking out!

Spend it on the bike, and get the money together to remap the car too, because youll still need to get around in the winter.

I agree you must be mad even considering it. I hate private plates, what do they achieve? Nothing apart from maybe spell your name or something about you, nobody really cares tbh, nearly everyoe has them anyway and 80% of the public wouldnt even notice. 5k on a plate is the kind of money you would spend if you have shed loads lying about, huge house etc few cars. Certainly not for a LCR...

I do have to admit, some of the more expensive and shorter plates do look quite cool. And it's a mod that nobody else can have.

BUT... £5k is way OTT considering the value of the car and what else you can achieve with that money.

i've got a private plate on my car but it was nowhere near 5k! it was a birthday present from wifey too. i suppose its not a bad thing to have as it stays with you, but tranferring it from car to car is a right pain in the arris!

I hate private plates... I remember for my 18th I heard my mum/dad talking about one... I had to interrupt and tell them not to waste their money. My name is Darryl so nickname seemed to be 'Daz'... I was a keen snowboarder then so they were gonna get me DAZ1080 - so glad they didn't, waste of money imo :)

Sorry to be a spoilt sport but mate i would go for a bike dont get me wrong i love my cars but doing my bike as a bike mechanic i can tell you with out spending the best part of a house on a car you will never ever match the accelaration of a bike plus then you have a hot day toy also.

A hot day toy is great... until you stop and realise your power ranger outfit (gimp suit) is leather and the hot summer heat is slowly turning your internal organs into a nicely cooked pulp :)

Lol no worries mate i have the pleasure of being called a power ranger all the time but you either love bikes or hate them but at the end of the day if your a power speed freak you cant beat em. You could have a 700hp LCR and a bike would still leave you for dead its all about power guys sorry but i love anything with a engine bikes included.

Got no anti-power issues here, fella.

Gave some major thought into part-buying an Aerial Atom with some fellas from work. Now that is power. But for me, cars will always get my vote. You can do so much more with them and there is a real sense of achievement when you double the power output on an engine and hit some big speeds in something with 4 wheels, 5 seats and 5 doors.

Bikes are fast.. but they're made to be fast. With cars, there is more of a challenge.

My vote still goes for big turbo.. IHI all the way.

Sparked up bit of a response here! Well thing is ive done my bike test (£800) got my leathers (£600) got a helmet (£250) got boots (£125) and summer gloves (£50) so thats nearly £2000 already spent and I havent even got a bike! I just hope my leathers still fit me and I can remember how to ride if I do decide to get one.
The plate is perfect though- D3AN R (1st name and initial surname) ive just phoned up and its been reduced but all in still comes to £4500. It would look so good on my LCR but then again a bigger turbo would sound better!
Everyone around my area knows me and my car every since ive been driving, im one of a few 'boy racers' so adding a private plate would make everyone look again!

I know! My theory is that if it doesnt sell soonish then there isnt anyone else like me thats been waiting for it so then hopefully he'll lower the price again.
I just keep thinking of all the hassels of not having the car while people do work on it then you always get the call thats says this is buggered you need to do that too! Im definatly going to go for the Revo stage 2 first then get the bike then maybe number plate if it drops in price!?!

Forget the plate. I find them incredibly poncey, although, a guy here at work has one that says '******', very amusing.

Get the bike and also get the car remapped. You get 2 out of 3 that way.

why would they look again if they already know you?
these cars are for drivers, not posers imo.

get it remapped, at least you'll still be semi-alive if you have a bad crash
