Ok after a few weeks of having the cold air feed in place on the leon, ive been running some logs with Vag-com to see whether with or without the feed attached is better..

as without seemed to be a clear winner i looked into replacing the foglight with some sort of scoop.. after a bit of frigging at work this is what ive come up with. it is a direct replacement.

i could do with polishing it a bit more but i'll do that when i have some more time..

performance seems much better now but i havent done any logs since fitting it.

That looks very impressive! Was it hard to make? Fancy making some more? ;)

LOL i knew someone would ask that... i am thinking about how hard it would be to make a load... you would have to cut your cold air feed into the same position as mine as well.. sorry for pointing out something so obvious :)

That's cool. I'm sure a few people would be interested in this, so it might be worth looking into the idea of making a few more?

i already asked before i posted about making some... it was a real pain for me to fit making this one in for myself so i asked if the welder if he would make them for us.

he said how much and how many.. im not sure how much people would pay for one, but i think you would have to make it worth his while..

maybe wait until you see mine in the flesh before you decide if you really want one.

what kinda cost you talkin bout 15-20 quid?

the stainless elbow that i cut up was £25 alone (although i got it free, but im sure they wont give me 10 ) so it will be a little more than you think.. im not trying to make any money it will all go to the welder. im not worried if peeps want some or not but i will try to help if people do.

What have you done on the other side? Is the fog light space empty now?

for now i have left the o/s fog there Rob. in the future i was thinking of doing something similar and routing two pipes into one.

Just a thought, but if I were in your shoes I'd take out the other side fog light too, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I like things to be symmetrical... and also, it allows more cold air to get to your side mounted intercooler that sits right behind. Since you wont be using your fog light(!) any more you may as well ditch both and make the most of it :)

I'm tempted to do the same myself. Reason being, now I've got HID's in the main lights, the fog lights look very yellow and there is less reason to use them as the HID's cut through fog nicely :)

i do agree with you Rob, i probably will take it out soon but it doesnt look too unsymmetrical so for now (or at least today :) ) i will leave it.... Theres a Bucks meet tom so i might do it before going there.

Good stuff.

Please could you remind me of the route you have taken to get the CAI to the scoop?

Apologies for trotting the photo out yet again, but can anyone spot my CAI intake? ;)
