had a lovely day at westec got 200bhp on the rollers went out in the car tonight and the car has started missfireing really badly when on full boost its only started tonight if you stop the car turn off and back on its fine for a while then miissfireing comes back again the car idles fine and drives ok untill you hit max boost the plugs was last changed by jabba sport at 86000 now the car has 106000 miles is it worth changing the plugs any help with this problem would be great

definitely worth changing the plugs, and they are likely the cause.

so replace the plugs and test, if it still occurs then might need a coilpack replaced. You might even find that a new set of plugs will expose a weak coilpack completely

I had this as have others before me, Plugs sorted it the first time.
Second time which was only up until a week ago one of my vac hoses had came off. Both caused missfiring under full boost.
Check all vac hoses first makle sure all connected. If they are-change plugs

the car has done over 100000 miles so the chances are the coil packs might be failing i thought when coil packs pack they just go ie runs on three cylinders this problem is only on full boost you cant drive through it the boost goes to nothing i will try plugs

20k miles on a set of plugs! Change them anyway! But it may not be the cause of your problems.

the right plugs are meant to last 40k.... but it's possible they're faulty I guess

Did you fill up with fuel on the way home?

no i did not fill up today the plugs were changed by jabba sport at 86000 miles some funny ngk number they cost £50 a set i will find the number tommorrow

Ensure the coilpacks are not loose.

2 of mine worked loose somehow and when the car went into boost it misfired really badly, but drove fine the rest of the time.

changed the plugs today and found out they are ngk BKUR6ET10 not the correct ngk plattinum long life plugs PFR6Q car now runs like a dream ive got 4 colipacks on order i will fit them to be on the safe side

those plugs are the correct ones, although there was a thread recently where the fella was told the plugs were the cause of his problems. But those plugs are the ones Seat and ECP supply. aslong as its running well though thats all that matters

The plugs in my case werent the ones seat normally supply, the guy i bought it off had taken it to a garage at the 40k that had just simply put the wrong ones in. As far as i'm aware you should get the platinum tipped ones, mine lasted 30k and then caused all kinds of problems when they disintergrated

the plugs in mine were not the correct ones they should be platinum tipped thats why mine played up mine only cost me £20 for the 4 and its maid a huge difference the car is so much more responsive its worth the extra

sorry fella but platinum tipped or not...BKUR6ET-10 is the part num for the standard plugs...i know because i ordered them myself and i am using them myself! It lists them on the NGK website too.

the car was playing up because the plugs had done the rounds...just as mine did last year. your not the first to suffer this...thats why i stated in the first post to swap the plugs

my car has always ran the factory supplied plugs (BKUR6ET-10) and currently doesn't miss a beat.

although admittedly, m0rk says they should last 40k, but i'm on 59k and my 3rd set

we had this discussion before in the thread i mentioned above where apparently Seat changed the recommended plugs for the car, BUT they still supply the original type today

So are the Seat recommended plugs now the same as what are used in the VW/Audi based 1.8t's which I believe are the PFR6Q's mentioned by stevegti6(vw part number b101 000 063AA).

look in an auto data book and you will see that BKUR6ET-10 is for a 1.6 ibiza
how a can £1.50 plug last 40000 miles i spoke to six seat deallers and they all listed platinum tipped plugs and none of them new of anything else you run what you want in your car but all my problems was caused BY THE WRONG PLUGS BEING FITTED

trust me mate spend £20 on PFR6Q plugs and you wont go wrong
PFR6Q is the correct plug they are the correct ones
