FR TDI - Cupra-R now and next

I have recently bought the FR TDI and think it's a wonderful car to drive, recently I was contemplating having it re-mapped as mentioned in an earlier post. Insurance was one of the reasons why I changed my mind, its cheaper for me to insure the Cupra-R basically because its not been touched. When the time comes to replace the FR it's almost a certainty it will be for the Cupra-R. Obviously I will be taking one out first but wondered what to expect from it. Is it a different breed altogether from the FR?

Thanks, also with the FR being 170bhp and the Cupra being 240 - wouldnt that be an extra 70bhp?

I think you are talking about two completely different animals..........FR TDI = Diesel, FR TFSI = Turbo FSI (petrol) Cupra = sort of TFSI (look under the hood for subtle differences) but a little quicker if given some beans........

What exactly is the question, as you cannot possibly compare diesel to petrol?

Yep! My mistake :)

I think you can compare a diesel and petrol. If you have an opinion on both you can compare them. When I bought the FR I wasn't sure which to go for, the petrol or the diesel. So I drove both to compare and made my decsion.

Just a thought, but you might be surprised at some of the responses you get from insurance companies about remaps these days. Lots of them are very happy to cover remaps on any car.

Greenlight even offer to cover a remap for free on new policies!

So before deciding to switch cars, phone around a few mod-friendly insurers as you might be pleasantly surprised :)
