I had my 2.0 TDi DSG remapped by Celtic- £360 money very well spent, no issues at all, smoother, faster more effortless. They say that they can tailor the maps to your requirements to some extent, so the worries of clutch slip might be overcome by some clever mapping that brings hefty torque in a bit higher up. Give them a ring and ask. They came to my house to do mine.
Well pleased.

Hi Loadswine, thanks for your reply. After much consideration and searching around, I've booked my car in with Celtic Tuning. They'll be around my place in about 10 days time. Can't wait  :funk:

:D Finally, the day has arrived. Was done this afternoon. I'm well happy with it. Seems to be getting better and better the more I drive. It has totally transformed the driving experience. It's not agressive, it's smoother, gear changes feel better, idles better, reacts better, revs better, wow it is better all round :funk: :funk: This is my first remap and highly recommended to all those who just aren't sure whether to go for it or not. IMHO, GO FOR IT

Well I had my notice for procecution for speeding on Monday so I think I got enough power, police entrapment :ban: open road, no warning signs etc etc

No after reading, week after week Honest John having a go at the police and the agency that run these cameras for entrapment and also seeing their vans slipped into side bits of grass to nab people 20 yards into poorly marked bits of road, it is all true as far as I'm concerned, it is a profit induced way of policing, not one aimed at safety but one aimed at running a business out of creaming a profit ie. a highway crime.

After 25 years plus of motoring this is the first incident so I don't need the Highway Code thank you very much. If the authorities introduce a "temporary" speed limit on a main road of 40 MPH on a main Essex artery road, 200 yards from a roundabout, don't mark it up, no road works etc etc that is running a business by entrapment.

It was the Tories that introduced automated speed cameras and it's this government that continued with this policy. I'm sure a government that sorted out road issues rather than created them would do well in the next election.

Off topic, but unless you got updated camera speed satellite mapping [I don't use one], not much point in getting more power out of you Altea in my view since it will only bite you in your pocket. Mines not remapped but in that vital 40+ it will boot it up as all turbo diesels do.

Tell,

I don't think that having a remap equals getting snapped speeding. If you've already got a TDI Sport you can already choose to drive over the limit. I got my points in a bog standard 70PS (68BHP?) Ibiza 1.2.

Now looking at it the other way round. I'm not going to look at a remap or any other performance mods until the points have gone. It's not the power I can't handle it's the premiums.

hi bondiblu
could you post up some figures on your remap in the near future
mainly price, bhp and mpg has the mpg improved as most remapers claim
would be nice if you notice an improvement in a tank full of derv
many thanks

Hi there. At this point all I can give you is price, which was £360 from Celtic tuning. They came and did the remap at my house, so no rolling road involved. The spec they told me I should expect was about a 40bhp increase and up to 256lbft torque ( I requested the torque to be lowered, to save the clutch until I get it uprated). Regarding mpg, i'll post those figures up once I get them, as mine doesn't have the trip computer, so will work them out once I've gone through a few tanks of juice.

I thought about getting it done for months and months, never quite sure whether to get it done or not. My opinion now is go for it. Honestly, it transforms the way it drives.

I got the remap done for drivability reasons, not to turn it into the ultimate race car. You drive the 2ltr which has alot more power than the 1.9ltr, and after the remap, my car now has similar figures to your 2ltr.

Tell, sorry you got done by a Tally van mate. The sad thing is that its not anything to do with safety, just revenue generation. I HATE speed cameras!
Love my Altea and the way it drives. (filthy at the moment as I'm spending all my spare time reinstalling the turbo on my other car)

Thank you for your kind wishes Nigel.... think I'll send a fiver to whoever burns these things. Obviously that wouldn't have revenue generation if it flashed up a warning that it was a 40 MPH temporary speed limit which they had imposed to catch people for speeding and failed to mark it up.

Not filthy at the minute but it's the time of year that I get very picky due to the work I do.... I'm taking it back to Innsbruck [the car] at the end of May on those unregulated autobahns, the marvels of European satnav where you have all the way points marked [wine to buy etc], I've even got the point marked on the Pembrokeshire path where ones got to restart the coastal walk at the August bank holiday :). My satnav doesn't do speed cameras mind you.

I do consider getting it remapped from time to time, but I give it too much welly at times as it is, although that wasn't one of the times when the revenue police were out.

How does a remap effect the warrenty ? How about insurance ? Is it the kind of thing you have done once the car is out of warrenty ?

Cheers

Hi all we have an 07 1.9 reference sport we love the car but feel it needs more power but we have been let down twice for a re-map once by a main dealer and then by an independant ...neither of them could get the codes that was in april so are things looking better for a Revo job now?... i'm in Essex is there anyone local who does it?
