weird noise on ignition

i did a search and didnt really find much, but way back in 2004 'sooty-torques' posted about a swooshing noise when the key is turned, stated as fuel being pumped by an electric pump....?
is this normal? the noise sounds like when you have water in your foot and it squelches

yeah totally normal just the fuel pump being primed.

Yeah it's normal - the only car that it's done it on but is normal for these engines.

Interesting point thou is, that is only does it when the fuel tank is half full.....
the moment its past the hlaf way point, you dont get the noise... the pump must be submerged at that point then.... but as said, perfectly normal!!

not noticed that yet, the car will be full, or at least past half tank 2mo so will have a listen
