i thought it might be interesting to find out how many miles others are getting to a tank.

its costing me £40 to brim the tank each time and the most i've squeezed out of it is 280 miles. the car is telling me i'm getting about 26mpg.

37mpg average in my 8v thats with mainly town driving/some motorway.

are u doing small journeys, i found my 8v takes longer to heat up as opposed to my 1.4 ibiza (naturally)

Anything up to 400 miles from a tank of super on a long run.

A split crankcase breather pipe will reduce MPG as Peter says.

About 300 miles for £40 is about right with average driving.

I just work it out like so:

eg.
£10 = 100 miles
3/4 of which is 75 miles

So £40 = 400 miles
3/4 of which is 300 miles

norm

26mpg is pretty shocking really, do you do a lot of town driving? my 16v makes around 32mpg with a mix

my mfa is showing average 20.3

tank takes 45L of optimax and so far done 165 miles and just below a 1/4 and the lights on

be lucky if i see 200

but that is just town/traffic driving 85% of the time and a quick blast about here n there when theres time / space

I can get anywhereup to 350 miles depending on how i am driving it, sometimes down around 250 if i have been giving it some. Do a bit of stop start in traffic to and from work though. Doesn't the mpg counter thing reset after every trip, mine always starts back at 0 every time i get in it so its always different depending on where im going.

With the switch on the wiper stalk in position "1", the MFA readings reset after the engine has been off for 2 hours. With the switch on the wiper stalk in position "2", MFA readings reset when you reset them or the counters overrun.

I generally average 35mpg to 37mpg on regular unleaded - so that'd be about 380 miles to 400 miles if I ran it dry (bear in mind that while the tank is 45l, there's a certain amount of capacity in the fuel lines and the filler neck). I don't do a lot of town driving or short trips. Motorway economy seems to drop off seriously if I start cruising above 80mph.

Most of the driving I do is in the town, I’ve yet to take it for a decent motorway drive, but might take a long trip this weekend and see how it goes.

The oil temperature seems to fluctuate a bit too. After driving a while it’ll sit steady at 78’c, about ½ on the needle, then it’ll suddenly drop to about ¼ showing 70’c on the MFA. As you can probably guess, I’m fairly useless at anything mechanical
