Fitting your Blueflame.... ADVICE

I fitted my turbo back exhaust today, and to say im happy with the results would be an understatement, it fits perfectly and sounds lovely when you want it to (when your accelerating and not just cruising).

I would like to give all the peeps in the Blueflame GB a bit of advice though...... please please please do not do this yourself on your driveway at home... if you have a lift then you might have an easier time but after a call to blueflame i found out it takes them 3 hours to get the OEM downpipe off..

you have to remove all shields from the tunnel to stand any sort of chance of getting it off... every nut on my cat was severly corroded and needed to be cut off. i had to use a oxyceteline torch to heat up the boss with the post cat lamba in to get that out. the 3rd section of the exhaust that goes over the rear axle was an absolute bitch to get on... i had to remove the lower bolts on the rear suspension and fiddle around with shields to get it anywhere near to going over...... i started at 10.30 this morn and finished at 9.30..

i have fitted loads of exhausts, rebuilt engines, put different engines in all sorts of cars but this job is by far the worst i have ever undertaken..

please take my advice and spend the extra to get it fitted... i would if i had another chance.

Doen mine last night, 2 poster ramp and a hoist, 2.5hrs later and it was done, subframe dropper, steering rack disconected, was a bugger to get the downpipe off, still doesnt sit perfect at the rear seems to sit a bit over to the passenger side but theres no more room at drivers side in the rear cut out for it! oh and because of how wide it is, i get a bit of rattle from underneath, need to see what its touchin, maybe tomorrow, but the results - PERFECT! instant power gain, sit with my mates CTR now side by side, before he used to pull 3 or 4 car lenths across a 1 mile strech! LOVE IT!

i got the use of a pit to put my blueflame on about 4months ago, but i didnt need to drop the subframe. just needed to twist and pull for around half an hour and it finally jolted out, at least the BF downpipe is easier to get than the oem was is to remove, only problem i a had with my BF system is that the backbox is very close to the passengers rear spring and hits every so often, i will just need to get a shot of the ramp for and hour and see what i can do.

sorry got to disagree here... (not looking for an argument lol)...

im on my 3rd BF DP so know lol...

i didn't watch BF fit the original but it took them about 3hrs all in to do the lot i think (quite slow tbh!)

but I stood and helped the last two mechanics fit and remove my last two DPs!

lets get things straight... axle stands will be a night mare!

without doubt the car needs to be lifted into the air (or use a pit) so you have lots of access to the DP from under neath!

As for having to remove the sub frame... this is not true! but yes it would help! but tbh is not worth the time and hassle!

the last two DIFFERENT mechanics who removed and fitted my last two DPs managed to do it in 50 and 45 mins respectively!

it takes a lot of twisting/shoving/pulling etc etc to get the DP out and to get the new one in!

but trust me it does go in without removing anything else!

so to recap... I certainly wouldn't bother doing it yourself UNLESS you have access to a lift or pit and lastly, if a garage tells you the sub frame needs moving out of the way to fit it (hence why they are charging a stupid price to fit) tell them they are wrong! ;)

hope this helps! :)

ps. dont forget to buy 3 new lock nuts and crush gasket for your DP from SEAT before it is fitted!!!

for all it takes to drop a sub frame, half dozen bolts that come out in seconds, makes life easier and saves "pushing, pulling and twisting" if you have your own way of doing it, do it, but its up to yourself, i just found that way easiest!
would defo say, lift or pit tho!
