Hello, and thank You for Your attention, I just joined this fine forum. I would like to ask you some hints useful to solve a little problem I have on my 2001 Leon 16V. It works fine, just did 39000km but quite often it fails in startup. It seems not casual, even if once started, it works very fine. Problem appears when ext. temperature goes up... some Seat people told me it's due air mass measure device, some others told me it's due clogged injectors, or also due other minor causes... It is very annoying because I like this car, and carefully follow maintenance.

Sorry if I didn't recognize already live topics about this stuff, I tried to find but unsuccessfully. Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello DPJ, thank You for Your kind answer. I was supposing also something similar... my neighbour working at local AudiZentrum told me that lots A3 did troubles of similar matter, but it was a problem solved "by home" simply replacing the sensor head... what really tricks me is the non-repeatability of the event. This morning my Leon cranked up just at second attempt, this afternoon it fiercely refused start, and just after a thenth minutes it started... I am no so practiced, really, but my opinion is that there is something that locks the fuel flow to injectors. I asked my neighbor some information about, looking to find any casualties corroboring this possibility.
At moment I changed spark plugs, air filter and battery but nothing happens. Do you know where the fuel filter is placed? is it inside the reservoir body or shall I look inside the engine bay? Sorry for this silly question, I am quite despaired... Thanks for your patience!

The fuel filter is on the right hand side of the car under the rear door & sideskirt.

Has the coolant temperature sensor been replaced?

I doubt it is a fuel issue, but you could look to see if you have voltage at the fuel pump.

Nope. The sensor wasn't replaced but it was double checked by Seat local techs trying solve this problem (unsuccesfully, obviously...)

They checked several times with their VAG device looking for any trouble on logic errors but found nothing.
This is because I am looking to check the fuel line... correct me if I'm wrong, but if fuel pipe doesn't reach the minimum pressure the fuel pump should continue run when You start the engine until the right pressure is reached, isn't it?

Hi all... things are going worse... this morning I was unable to start my Leon.
Engine seems to start, but it runs just at 300 rpm ( ! ) without chance to control rpm with the throttle pedal.
I just had to stop the engine by pulling out the key. Does anybody know what happens to my engine? I'm quite worried...
