Wot a pain, i got my new splitter and saw how the tags locate on the lower of the front bumper, sound me thinks. got home on the drive to do it and its like the things not big enough. if i hook one side in at the far end where it locates rite near the wheel arch liner, the other side doesnt reach?? am i supposed to stretch it lol?

It is a complete nightmare, our body shop guy ended up putting mine on because I was about to launch it out of the workshop....

It will fit but it has to be persuaded! When you line it up, it looks like it it won't reach round to the other side, but once you start pushing it in it fits much better and will actually line up.

I initially thought I had been sold the wrong part..

Persevere, it will go on!

Nothing's ever straight forward, is it? :D

:) Do these fit the pre facelift 1.4s? I wouldn't mind one!

And you can't go wrong for £17!

dont think a postface would fit a pre facelift without some cutting involved. the post lift is flat all the way round but the pre-lift is narrower at the wheel arch ends.

i done it lol, i ended up taking the fog light trims and the middle trim so i could hold and stop the bumper from flexing, i was about to launch mine into the bin but after some serious forcing it made it... just... next time its at work ill get it in the air and stick the screws in through the wheel arch liner and wot not.

the bad news is, its made it really obvious that my side skirts are missing lol

Glad you managed to do it ok..

Dave - I stapled it on first just to hold it in place, Had to trim the edges down though as it was slightly too long.

Then I used a none silcon based glue (Tigerseal) people glue bodykits on with.. I smoothed my LCR splitter in though so you can't see the glue. but you should be able to staple them on I think.

I picked up my front splitter today!
It doesnt feel like it should fit but when you push it from both sides it moves in slightly! Though you have to make sure it lines up with the holes.
It took me five minutes of swearing and hurting my hands till I figured it out!

The bloke at the seat dealer said it was stupid how cheap they were! he said one for a Rover would be £100!

Haha, so it sounds like it's a great task getting these on!

Sorry to sound stupid, but would the front splitter replace or attach to the lowest black part (shown in the pic) The part that splits in the middle of it. Hopefully it is as that part is pretty scruffy.

I am almost certain the facelift gti splitter will not fit a prefacelift bumber!
If I were you I would go and rip a splitter off a Renault laguna and stick that on it!

Just out of interest looking at the splitter I fitted today, why does it have air vents only on the one side?

the vents are the intake to the intercooler on the mk2 tdi models

the one side thats blanked off can be cut from behind to open em all up too

needs brute force and ignorance to get in flat though
