The clifford needs to be installed with a canbus wiring kit so it communicates with the ECU and over-rides it but the jolly helpfull t**ts at Tourque Systems in Crawley didnt want to know and done it their way now they wont touch it! So i guess it can be done but there is much better kits with intellistart like the Toad one.

Personally I'd say the Clifford was the best remote start available. You can't blame the alarm for a bad install.

If clifford was so good how come they dont exsist anymore? Why do they keep changing their name? I havent had a straight answer from them they just say remove the alarm if im not happy with it. They say that i should have checked that the alarm was conpatible with my car so i asked is it then they said cant be sure for the Cupra R- useless if you ask me they have crap after care.

Oh yeah stupid me i thought there was one on the 8th for some unknown reason. What an idiot.

The bloke at Torque threatened me to leave the premisses or he'll 'knock me out' got right in my face all because i said fit my alarm the right way (with the canbus kit) free of charge or take it out!

What do you mean Clifford don't exist anymore? They've never changed their name

intellistart.... = a thief's early xmas present, the reason the insurance companys dont like it is, due to the fact the wires running from ur ignition to the alarm which sense if the key is in ignition only have to be touched together... this confuses the system and thinks ohhh keys in, dont stop the car. so ive been told by a authorised clifford fitter.

mind u on the LCR the factory alarm will cause conflicts these are fixable but we cudnt be arsed to be honest. the best option with intellistart if u do wish to fit this is a bloodly ****ing huge bollard at the end of ur drive just incase...

i just dont trust intellistart ive seen the engine still run without the keys in the ignition. and then be driven!:-o :-o :-o

For you to be able to do that you need to get in the car without setting the alarm off. Opening a door/boot etc will trigger the alarm and shut down the car even if running with intellistart active.

Insurance companies don't like intellistart because it voids the Thatcham rating. But it only voids the thatcham rating because it wasn't fitting to the alarm when thatcham tested it to give the rating.

Any installer that can show you his car being driven off while the intellistart is active ( without sitting in the car with it locked etc ) hasn't installed the alarm or intellistart properly to begin with.

he showed me how they bypass everything and drive off, it was fitted in northern ireland which has the highest joyridding rate in europe.. im not arguing was clearly stating a point ive seen a car 'stolen' with intellistart in use.

i say stolen as in it was his own car he got into and drove off in, he obviously deactives the intellistart module after this trick. and no i aint tellin how lol

stu.

it can be done, in my opinion dont like it.

Erm.... swansea has a higher rate as does a few other areas on the mainland, its only well known that some parts of northern ireland have joyriders because the paramilitaries used to kneecap and shoot them.

Yeah I know what he's doing, but what I'm saying is he's not got the system installed properly, and that's why he can do it. ;)

oh brendy u no me from reallymeansounds.com i used to live 0.25miles from joyridders alley beside t brook lol.

Ahh yes , you got the leon last year. I didnt recognise the debadged boot!!

Believe it or not manchester/brum/swansea have worse car theft statistics than over here, probably as there is a larger population between them. there wouldnt be many thefts from the likes of portaferry etc!!

Yes someone can steal it, if it wasn't installed properly... The story you are being told about how easy it is to drive away is done by not installing the system properly ( and so circumventing half the features ) so that they can demo how "easy" it is to get around a Clifford. I'd pretty much put money on the guy also installing Toad alarms which have a higher profit margin and are easier to install.
