LC Front Subframes, Wishbones & ARB

For anyone curious to see what these look like off the car!

The front of the car would be towards the wall.

Note the dogbone mount sticking forwards in the middle, with S3 lower brace running beneath it.

A ball joint bolts to the outer end of each wishbone and the joint fixes to the bottom of the wheel hub assembly. Drop links (not shown) go down from each curved end of the Anti-roll bar to the middle of each wishbone. The driveshafts run directly in front of the subframe (with the curves of the arb going over the top.)

The ARB is strapped to the subframe at one point on either side.

The steering rack bolts on top of the subframe (you can see the two pairs of bolt holes.)

I was bored so I thought I'd lighten the car a bit! :lol:

No seriously, I'm fitting powerflex bushes to the wishbones and a Neuspeed front ARB is going on.

To change the ARB, you need to lower the subframe 4" or so. With no wishbones in, it just sort of fell off the jack that was supporting it. :roflmao: (it's not very heavy)

Thanks for that, Ross. :) Have you got any idea what the torques settings should be on the balljoint >wishbone bolts?

balljoint to lower arm bolts= 20Nm or 15 lbf ft
this is for the octavia from haymes manual ;)
the above is stage 1?!?!?
stage 2 is angle tighten a further 90 degree's
