Forge TIP fitted... question though

I've just finished fitting a Forge TIP to my LCR. I was going to get JKM to do it but a combination of boredom, the itch to get my hands dirty and not enough cuts and scrapes on my hands made me do it myself!

Anyway... all fitted ok. Everything seems nice and tight and in the right place, engine cover goes on perfectly... job done.

The only thing I'm not sure about (and yes, I've searched, but all results we related to the LC and didn't mention this) is the standard TIP had 'holders' (for want of a better word) for a couple of other pipes that ran alongside the TIP. The Forge doesn't have this, so those pipes are hanging free. Is this OK? Or should I get some cable ties on them to secure them in place?

I've left mine "dangling" and they've been fine for three years odd.

I'd rather do that than risk a cable tie rubbing through...

Did you have much difficulty getting the bottom end on the compressor inlet, Rob?

Shouldn't have - the LCR is much better for fitting than the k03x version

It was a piece of cake. As m0rk says, access to that area is very easy on the LCR. I removed the air box to give me a bit more space and then I could get into every area I needed with a screwdriver. The standard TIP was held onto the compressor with a jubilee clip, which was handy as I had nightmares of it being a horrid VAG one-time-use-devil-clip.

So all in all it was easy. Took about 45 minutes all in

Yes, actually. I'm quite surprised and very pleased with it.

Torque in the midrange (or generally when moving) seems better, the turbo seems to spool quicker and the sound from the engine is throatier, a bit more racey perhaps. As an example... 2nd gear, 2krpm, foot down and it takes off much quicker than before. Also when doing 50 in 4th and putting your foot down, there is an obvious improvement in how quickly it gets up and goes now.

It's early days, but it seems well worth it so far. Oh, and I went for black, bought it second hand from this forum and is in very good condition
