K&N Air Filter to my Leon 1.6

I have been offered a K&N air filter ( ) ,but is it worthwhile fitting it too my 1.6s?.I drive a standard Leon and i am not looking to soup it up in any way but i have been told K&N filters can increase the 2 bhp (wow) which am not bothered about but what i have been told is that it increases fuel comsuption with talk of an extra 10 miles to the gallon

Is this correct with the extra mileage as i drive over 12k a year and the extra miles per gallon is something which can sway me buying the filter.

Another thing is will the car have a growling sound as i dont want to look like a old greyed haired 30 odd something boy racer

very pleased with my Pipercross panel filter,

not noticed any saving on petrol, but goes better and faster.

no change in noise in lower gears.
