Shows the value of shopping around alright.

I've found the same price variance on a litre bottle of PD oil. The cheapest is the local Audi dealer at a tenner, Skoda is over £12!

You think that's expensive, that independent price is about half what I paid an independent just to change the cambelt on the Passat :(

I purchased the parts trade for service at £50 ( PD Oil, oil filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, sump screw) and payed independant £60 labour - Total £110
I purchased a cambelt kit official VAG one for £70 of Ebay and payed Jabba £158 for fitting - Total £228

Haha I rock.

I knew the local SEAT dealer would price match up to 25% so rang them back with "lots of quotes at about £400" and they matched it with free courtesy car.

The independent wasn't too sure it would be exactly £368 so I'm happy paying £32 more for the SEAT stamp.

I do over 30k a year so I have an oil change at 10k and a major service at 20k. Think there was something extra at 40k but not that much more expensive than a 20k. I guess the cambelt will need doing at 120k again so after this I think it's back to normal for another 2yrs.

Mine is worth about what I owe on it now and I'm considering getting rid for something dafter. Warranty goes with 60k but thought the SEAT stamp would look better. It's not even 2yo old yet if anyone fancies it at about the £10k mark. Oil change every 3 months!

Something dafter?? Like?

I was thinking bout the new FR TDi 170. Im finance clear but cant justify finding the extra 5-6 grand :-o . Only had this 1 bout a year and a half!

Think I'll stay put until bout 80-90k unless it starts costing me money (which i doubt but hope i've not just jinxed it!).

Just had a call from them about my brakes. On it's 40 & 50k I mentioned that the brakes were squeaking. I told them I know the wear is ok but the squeak is driving me mad.

Mentioned again today and they've just rung and told me the wear is fine (ARGH!) and to strip and clean the brakes would be another 2-3hrs labour.

Surely on a major service they should do this anyway? I'll be checking the book when it comes back.
